We invited our Danish family to what we knew would be a Fine Dinner the Day after Thanksgiving at On the Veranda; they have Dined the World Over. We quickly came to know our Server Billy..... He was exceptional. We learned that he had Danish heritage, and a blonde, blue-eyed son William. William- your Father served us in a First Class manner, allowing us to Totally Enjoy incredible dishes created by his friend, Chef Andrew. We appreciated Andrew visiting our table following dinner, so we could personally thank him for The Experience. A Dining Experience is far different from a 'dinner out'. You can Each be proud of One Other, and Thank You Sincerely for the Special Occasion for My Family. Lamar & Gitte Wells. Marietta, GA

We visited on a rainy evening in November. Due to the weather and time (Monday in November), it was not particularly busy. We are on the veranda which but could not see the landscape as it was already dark - but the ambiance was nice. The food portions were generous and the quality was top notch, including the smoked salmon quesaidilla appetizer and the ahi tuna and butternut squash entrees. They have a nice selection of reasonably priced wines by the glass to accompany the food. The service was impeccable - friendly and timely, but not overbearing.
Will definitely return on our next trip to the area.

Every part of our 4-course dinner was exceptional. We eat at any many fine-dining restaurants and were very impressed by the quality and originality of the food at this one. A smoked salmon appetizer, mushroom soup, and tuna steak were particularly memorable. The service was outstanding - courses were well-timed and our server, Billly, was attentive, yet unobtrusive, and altogether very professional. I highly recommend this restaurant.

My husband took me to On The Verandah Restaurant for our anniversary last night and it was spectacular!!!!! The twinkle lights getting you when you first enter the restaurant gives you the feeling of knowing it is going to be a special night. Our server Daniel was very knowledgeable about the chef's specials and recommended a wonderful bottle of Davis Pinot Noire wine to complement the food we ordered. The food was delicious and the entire dining experience was outstanding!!! I highly recommend anyone visiting Highlands to put this restaurant on their must eat here list!!!!

We had 7:30 reservations, but due to the improbable ending to the Auburn-Georgia game we were late. When we arrived, we apologized for our tardiness, but the hostess said it aprpeared everyone in the 7:00 to 7:30 range had done the same. I knew then it was a great place to eat. The fried crab claw appetizer arrived quickly, but was a bit lacking. The speedy service continued with the entrees. The horseradish encrusted grouper was a healthy serving and despite the "horseradish" appelation, was actually a pleasant surprise. I would grade it higher had we not had the quintessential fish entree the night before. The root vegetable accompaniment, was a sturdy , earthy, herbal offering that was a grand addition to the meal. The real show stealer, however was the peppercorn encrusted New York strip steak. My girlfriend is something of an aficionado of steak au poivre and peppercorn. She averred it was the best she had ever eaten. I shared the sentiment---she did surrender a bit to me. It was cooked to rare perfection and the melange of flavors was a treat.

I must compliment the wine list as well. The wines were moderately priced, and paired well. The Justin Cab Paso Robles was just what the meal called for. As an aside, there is a well stocked, piano bar with an accomplished pianist.

This is a popular restaurant and very well deserves to be.
