We dined at Madison's while spending a few nights in Highlands and were extremely disappointed. The setting was elegant and the menu had a nice variety. However, the problem was that all of our food - soup, appetizer and main course came out lukewarm at best. One item in my dinner plate was actually cold. The table next to us also was complaining to their server that their food was cold. We ordered the lobster bisque and this was mediocre. The table next to us sent it back, which should have been a sign for us to save the $12. We told our server that our food was cold, but since we had waited for 40 mins to get it, that we would just eat it. We are not in favor of sending food back. We hoped that the server would offer us a complimentary dessert or after dinner drink to compensate, but this did not happen.
Shame on an establishment that charges over $30 an entree to serve food cold. We also complained to the manager who did not seem to care. I would not recommend Madison's to anyone who is visiting Highlands. I would recommend The Log Cabin restaurant, which is outstanding with a wide variety of delicious gamey meats, outstanding service and cool art on the walls.
