We visited Madison's both for dinner as well as Easter champagne Brunch as was very impressed with the staff and food! Our dinner was amazing and offered a wide variety for all of us! Our daughter had venison while I enjoyed seafood and my fiancé enjoyed veal! The chef came out and visited our table and really made the entire meal memorable with his own personal explanation of our meals! We look forward to dining here again!

Last night's dinner was a borderline disaster. We've had many great meals at Madison's so last night's experience is puzzling. Our server, while pleasant and friendly, bumbled her way through our evening. She started to take drink orders, taking one then leaving. She brought the drink to the table then completed taking drink orders. She did let our wives sample wines before they ordered which was nice.

We ordered our first course, which did arrive promptly. A young man who helped deliver this course handed a small bowl of salad dressing to our wives which, as it turned out, was for a different salad on the table. He corrected the mistake a couple minutes later but it was too late. Our wives had already put the dressing on salads that already had a different dressing put on them in the kitchen. They both ate the salads with two different dressings so as to not make a big deal about it.

We ordered a bottle of wine that never made its way to our table until my friend got up to chase it down after a half hour wait.

Entrees arrived. Reaching across the booth table to serve my wife, our waitress nearly let the food slide off the plate. We were within an inch of a disaster. The food quality was good but not great. The girls both got the halibut special and the presentation was bizarre. A piece of halibut in the middle of a large white plate with a little cast iron pot of veggies tucked on to a corner of the plate. It looked like a plate you would grab in a cafeteria line.

A young man then came by asking if we wanted more bread. We never had bread in the first place. The bread guy arrived 1 hour into our meal. This was the same young man who made the salad dressing mistake.

The check arrives and it is wrong. They fail to include the bottle of wine or the round of drinks. We point out the error and it took 35 minutes to get the corrected bill to our table. Finally, after more than 2 1/2 hours we leave.

This was not a pleasant evening except for the good company of our friends.

I don't think I have ever been so disappointed in a theoretically white table service restaurant. We were asked if this was a special occasion when we made our reservation on line and again, the afternoon before we dined here, when we stopped at the wine bar to read the wine list. This was our 49th wedding anniversary and they managed to ruin it for us. From the hostess to the waitress to the sommelier, everyone gave us the impression that they were just going through the motions. I really don't want to write a really lengthy review. It just isn't worth the effort. We will never return and I will certainly pass the word to my friends.

We regret that you found your dining experience with us less than enjoyable. As you stated, we inquired and were told that was your anniversary and so we added the special touches to your table. After a review of your comments and interviewing our staff, we remain unclear on what your specific issues were with your dinner service that evening. Unless it was the fact that Madison's is not, in fact, a "white tablecloth" restaurant and perhaps you would have preferred a more formal fine-dining environment for your anniversary. Several years ago, we toned down some aspects of the ambiance that could be construed as stuffy or formal--including removing white tablecloths--to create a more relaxed setting that supports our farm-to-table menu and elegant mountain setting. Regarding your comment that everyone was just going through the motions, we have shared your input with our team members. Our service standards continue to be a top priority, and we hire and train staff members to make every guest feel special. If you encountered one or more staff members that did not go out of their way to recognize you and your special occasion, and that colored your perception for the whole evening, then we certainly do apologize for that.

This outdoor restaurant is located is part of The Old Edward's Inn. You do not have to be a guest there to dine here. We came without reservations on a busy Sat. afternoon. The greet staff was very friendly and told us it would be about a five minute wait. We got the perfect seat with a view of the small waterfall fall they have that I am sure you could request if you make reservations ahead of time. There was a wait for our food , because it was very busy. It was in the 70's on this day with low humidity in Aug. so everything was just right for outdoor dining. My husband ordered fish and chips and said it was delicious . I ordered their bruschetta and it was just ok. I have had much better. It looked like everyone there was very happy. The restrooms are located up a pathway that runs beside the waterfall and when you are not a guest at the hotel and you need a restroom stop before a long day of shopping visit before you leave. I heard they were having an amazing guitar player there on their upper deck in the evening which sounded wonderful. We did not come to it but our innkeeper told us it is amazing experience.

This was the spot chosen for our daughter and son-in-law's 10th anniversary and vow renewal. The small lunch was served in a private dining area in a wine room. We ordered off the menu. The setting was intimate and table lovely. The food was good, service some of the best anywhere and the red velvet cake served for dessert as good as what mama made and she made the best.

The immediate family celebrated with a vow renewal on the croquet lawn. Also, beautiful. Would have liked to have spent more time in Highlands.
