I loved staying at Main Street. The inn is charming without being stuffy! I loved the owners and they made me feel like family. The rooms were comfortable and cozy. Make sure you eat dinner there because the food is excellent and reasonably priced. A must is the puff pastry with white chocolate mousse and berries...to die for!

We booked this inn at the last minute after being diverted from the beach because of a hurricane for 3 nights. When we checked in no offer was made for luggage assistance and we were on the top floor of the inn.

The website mentions gourmet breakfast but watch out - that doesn't apply to weekdays. We were not given any options - just handed a plate of grapes, storebought banana bread and some eggs, sausage grits and toast.
I would have been happy to have the option to reduce the rate and skip the breakfast. This happened two mornings in a row during the week. On Saturday there was a better buffet but by that time we chose to eat elsewhere -

I would just expect a little more for the price. At least spend a little more and get some good coffee.

The management and staff were most friendly. Available for any needs 24 hours a day. Our vehicle became inoperatable, and Gary and Pam made sure all our transportation needs were met. Dinner there one night, and breakfest each day was excellent. Can not say enough good about this establishment.

Room Tip: Stay in the main house.

I was traveling with my 10 lb miniature poodle and we were both treated like royalty. The rooms are immaculate, even the bath soap is quite special. Coffee in the lobby and a lovely outdoor area to sit and read, have a drink or coffee and all well located on Main Street, Highlands, walking distance to everywhere. The staff even warmed up my poodle's meals and we found the innkeepers very helpful and cordial.

Room Tip: Check for week day specials.

Great place right on main st. The bed was awesome, my room was very clean, and the staff was awesome. A quick 2.5 hours from Atlanta and an awesome summer get away!

The beds were very comfortable, with very soft white towels and loved the soap. stayed the night before hitting Harrahs Cherokee casino. Thanks for the great breakfast and hospitality. I would highly recommend the place. Walk to the restaurants and great new bar.
Looking forward to a return visit.

we needed a get away after my fiance worked 59 days straight on tornado recovery in MO.I wanted to stay at olde edwards inn but they were booked and recomended this Inn saying everyone stays there when they dont have rooms..they must be related! great location on the street close to everything..really small room,bathroom..clean enough, but like im guessing a comfort inn..or less! we werent in the main inn but behind it.the slats on plastic blinds were missing and the window treatment was a thin white.. [looked home made curtain]..didnt block any light all night.the lights from kitchen and security lights and the lights right outside on the balcony shined in all night making it seem like day time.even with my shirt over my eyes and blanket and pillow on my head it was still too bright..but i wouldnt have been able to sleep anyway as the mattress was something out of little house on the prarie.i wanted to ask if they could tighten up the hay! ok i got no sleep all night and couldnt wait to get out of there..too bad cause we love highlands and had i not just come from a fabulous B an B in ashesville..youd never get me to try that again! all in all great location,clean..but you can bring a tent or sleep on a concrete block and get the same comfort! go here only if you can not find any other place and have to have a bare bones room.im trying to be nice, but the owners sister said she never heard my complaint before that its so light in the room at night, and the bed sucks so bad that im compelled to be honest about it. i actually ached!
