“Food was fantastic!!”

We did have to wait awhile to be seated even with a reservation. We sat at the bar while we waited. Then decided to just eat at the bar. We had excellent service!! The food is more than worth the wait!! This is one of our favorite places to go when we visit Highlands twice a year!! We've made it a tradition!!

“OMG - Escargot to die for!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2010

Amidst an inherently romantic location, nestled atop the mountains of Southwestern North Carolina, this gem of a restaurant was a true find on our recent anniversary trip. As we checked into the Old Edwards Inn, across the street, the aromas from the restaurant intoxicated us both. We soon secured a reservation and were taken into this intimate, romantically lit, vibrant food womb. After making a selection from their very comprehensive wine list, we chose the escargot for our appertizer.

NEVER have we had escargot like this - replete with the most amazing garlic/lemon/herb butter, the escargot was, in a word, heavenly, only topped by taking their homemade Italian herb bread and sopping up the wonderful sauce! We will return, if for no other reason, for their escargot!

“Exquisite food and great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2010

Recently, my wife and I were travelling through Highlands, North Carolina and had the opportunity to rate a few restaurants along the way. We decided on Ristorante Paoletti. We have rated several from our travels across the US. We made the reservation at 4pm and arrived at 815pm. The host was very cordial and led us to our table. Our waiter, Rob, was also cordial and very knowledgable of the extensive wine list and the menu. The service was extraordinary and the food was very well prepared. Upon entering the restaurant, I had stereotyped it as an establishment that might have good food and smaller portions. Well, I was pleasantly surprised when the food arrived at the table and the portions were larger than most of the find dining establishments that we have frequented. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family that travel to the area. Again, my wife and I have a treat to remember. Keep up the good work, Paoletti. You have something special in the Appalacians.

“Very Pleasant Dining Experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2010

We dined at Paoletti's June 23rd and had a wonderful dinner. Like the reviewer before us, we noticed the decanting of the wine, the clientele and the availability of some very expensive wines. However, we viewed this as part of the experience and enjoyed
watching it. We were seated right away and the server was very attentive. The food was delicious. The only negative we noticed was that the server at the table next to us informed the guests that they could order a small portion of the pasta on the menu.
We were not informed of this and might of preferred a pasta dish if available in smaller portions. If this is the policy of the restaurant, it should be indicated the menu.
