Tucked away in a small town that oozes with charm is this magnificent, fluent with authenticity ristorante. We are world travelers, we've spent many weeks traversing Italy and we're "foodies". This restaurant could rival any authentic Italian restaurant anywhere. People are welcoming, friendly, courteous and warm with sincerity. The menu covers the gamut of anyone's taste and dietary requirements. Fresh, excellent preparation, served attractively, at the correct temperature.
We enjoyed our meal so much, we went back the following night for our anniversary. Rarely do we choose to eat twice in the same restaurant, two nights in a row. This speaks volumes. We expressed our thanks to Julio and praised our server Synamon (love that name). Great drinks, superb wine menu, a Sommelier with extensive knowledge, mouthwatering desserts and an inviting ambience that makes you feel totally welcome. Priced truly reasonably for the quality of food and creative preparation.

I was so impressed with thev Roasted Beet and Orange Salad (just take a look at the picture) topped with goat cheese, I had it both nights............

We have enjoyed Paoletti's for decades. We always anticipate our visit knowing we will enjoy an evening of delicious food and wine. Julio is remarkable. We know we can count on him for the perfect wine at the perfect budget, depending on who we are with. We were just there on a busy Saturday night as we have been in the past. Julio's thoughtfulness as to our wine paring was, as always, pitch perfect (needless to say, he is very fortunate to enjoy the benefit of a Wine Spectator Grand Award winning wine list). We find this alone to be amazing, considering the size of our little town on top of a mountain.
Is everything always perfect? It's about as perfect as it gets. We never fail to enjoy our experience there. The combination of wonderful food, wine and company is why we find ourselves returning again and again year after year.
We were dismayed to see such a negative review concerning the large table of boisterous diners.
The one thing we never expect at Paolett's is a "quiet" atmosphere. As a rule, it is packed with enthusiastic patrons sharing an enjoyable evening. We can only encourage you to go see for yourself. We're confident you'll agree.

I recently visited the small mountain resort town of Highlands in Western NC. I enjoyed my visit immensely but the highlight of my my trip was my dining experience at Paoletti's. From the moment we entered we were well attended. Julio showed us to our table and helped us choose the perfect bottle of wine. Our server Cinnamon was friendly and knowledgeable, she guided us through the extensive menu and described delectable specials. The food was extraordinary and all of our needs we're met, glasses refilled, plates cleared and crumbs swept away. A cup of cappuccino, homemade bourbon and walnut bread pudding and orange gelato ended the evening on a sweet note. We said goodnight feeling totally satisfied and leaving behind new friends. We can't wait to visit again in the spring!

Crab stuffed artichoke appetizer was delicious; however, veal chop was served very, very, rare when it was supposed to be medium. And, it was probably 15 minutes before I could get the attention of a bus boy to ask for our server.

Each time we visit Highlands, we make a point to eat at Paoletti's.
The food, wine, atmosphere and service are first-class.
All of the Italian dishes are wonderful, particularly the lobster ravioli and shrimp fra diavolo. The more "American" fare such as beef, lamb, pork (sometimes elk!) are prepared with both flair and care. Fish is done exceptionally well. Our favorites are the mushroom-olive-herb crusted halibut and the delicately prepared mountain trout.
The wine list is extensive and excellent and Julio can bring you just the right wine for your meal and well as answer any questions about the menu and do whatever he can to make your evening wonderful.
Paoletti's is lively and fun and reminds one of a New York restaurant. Very friendly, very professional. Great times. Great food.
