Really more of a small inn than the usual B&B, which is a plus in my book. Separate entrances for all the rooms. Each room has its own bathroom & temp control. The rooms themselves are a bit dated, but they do the job. Ours (#201) had a cozy gas fireplace and a mini-fridge, as well as a little table and chairs on the small porch area out front that looked over the inner courtyard.

Location is a quick drive away from the center of town. You could walk it in a pinch, I suppose. Wireless internet was available, but the signal was a bit weak/slow in the room. Parking is out front or around back--either way, very convenient to the rooms.

The highlight was the breakfast though. The usual toast and cereal was available, but they also provided two different "hot" dishes each morning, baked up and served in two-person-sized ramekins. French toast, baked oatmeal, fluffy omelet casseroles... all of it was very good!

OK, if you cannot stay at The Old Edwards Inn because its booked up; Then do not blow alot of money on anything else in Highlands. The Chandler Inn is just a stones throw off main Street and is a very charming little place. It reminds me of a place in Carmel California. The rooms are clean and neat. White linens on brass beds. Decorating is not fancy, but rooms and baths seem updated. The guy running it is a hoot; and his wife makes a killer breakfast ................I loved the place because it is what it is. This is not a B&B trying to be something its not. The location is great the rooms were very nice, and from what I could tell all very different. Breakfast is served with the owners and other guests just hanging out and having a good time............ The best thing is that all the rooms are entered from the outside, so no shared halls or creepy next door neighbors................ Like I said Old Edwards Inn in Highlands is one of the nicest places in the country, very $$$$$ and hard to book ; The Chandler Inn is a bargain, clean and fun....................... I have now enjoyed both. And would gladly stay at either again.

We left home with a change of clothes and our toothbrush and wound up in Highlands, NC about 9:00PM. We happened onto The Chandler Inn and it looked cozy so we decided to stay there. A GREAT decision! The staff (owners) were VERY nice and the room was VERY comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was delicious as was the conversation with the owners. If you get a chance, and like owner run Inns, check out The Chandler Inn. You won;t regret it!

We enjoyed our stay at the Chandler Inn immensely! The room was quiet and cozy and very much like staying in the guest room at a friend's house. Breakfast was wonderful! In fact, we had the most delicious baked french bread with nuts and berries that I am still left thinking about! Can't wait to return!

Been coming to The Chandler Inn for many years since it' is such a quaint B&B. The rooms are clean & quiet, It's a short pretty walk to Main Street. Their breakfasts are DELISH!! Such good - tasty food. The owners are personable and fun to talk with. The beds are very comfy. There is DSL svs if you want , yet it is so nice to just enjoy the country ambience and fireplaces. There is lots of information on what to do and where to go. Enjoy your stay here.... I always do.
