Highlands NC can be an expensive area for travelers, but we stopped at the Chandler Inn, because it looked so quaint and comfortable; a real mountain setting. What a surprise when we discovered that it was also incredibly reasonable for a comfortable room that included a delicious hot breakfast. The owners are delightful. Call ahead if you have a pet to find out if their "pet room" is available. The Inn is close to the retail district of Highlands, but not within walking distance. We cannot wait to return; wouldn't stay anywhere else in Highlands.

The Caretakers really greet you and make you feel at home. Randy really gives you the info you need to enjoy your stay and encourages you to make his in. Your own. My wife and I have had mixed experiences with B&B's (admittedly we've only visited a few) but we will return to Chandler Inn. In fact we already booked a return visit to enjoy the fall leaves changing color. You won't be disappointed.

Quiet, comfortable, great location. Wonderful friendly owners. Fireplaces in every room, and gourmet breakfast makes this inn a must visit in North Carolina...

Really more of a small inn than the usual B&B, which is a plus in my book. Separate entrances for all the rooms. Each room has its own bathroom & temp control. The rooms themselves are a bit dated, but they do the job. Ours (#201) had a cozy gas fireplace and a mini-fridge, as well as a little table and chairs on the small porch area out front that looked over the inner courtyard.

Location is a quick drive away from the center of town. You could walk it in a pinch, I suppose. Wireless internet was available, but the signal was a bit weak/slow in the room. Parking is out front or around back--either way, very convenient to the rooms.

The highlight was the breakfast though. The usual toast and cereal was available, but they also provided two different "hot" dishes each morning, baked up and served in two-person-sized ramekins. French toast, baked oatmeal, fluffy omelet casseroles... all of it was very good!
