“Back again!”
Reviewed May 6, 2014

Once again we were back this year for our anniversary weekend. And once again we had a wonderful, relaxing weekend. We had a fire in the evening in the man house, a very comfortable king bed (bargain basement this year), and one of the best breakfasts ever. Chris and Dona are great hosts, so comfortable to be around and at the ready with helpful local information. Thanks, and see you next year!

I have been enjoying the supreme hospitality of Colonial Pines B&B in Highlands, NC for about six years now and find it to be one of the best kept secrets in town! Nestled a few blocks off Main Street, within walking distance to town, the inn is cozy with pine paneled walls, four spacious bedrooms along with a wide veranda in which to enjoy breakfasts in the summer and relax in the afternoon with a book or drink as the mountain breezes gently float over you. Each morning of your stay you are treated to a sumptuous breakfast by Donna & Chris, the owners, to ensure you have the energy to begin your day of sightseeing or shopping. When the weather turns cold, you have the warmth of a fire in the living room to knock the off the chill as you sit and visit with other guests. For me and my friends, Colonial Pines offers the best of the best with warmth and congeniality and foremost comfort for their guests. If you don't stay at Colonial Pines Inn, you have only yourself to blame!

Colonial Pines is a delightful, clean and comfortable B&B. The rooms are all different but each is charming. The innkeepers, Chris and Donna, have owned the property for thirty years and are wonderful to get to know. The breakfast is a delicious experience each morning. The inn sits on a hill just moments from downtown Highlands.

Room Tip: The "Audubon" and "Harris" rooms are my favorites. For a suite with two rooms an...

My husband and I stayed in the two bedroom guest house over the summer while we were visiting for a wedding. The guest house was more than we could have expected. It was very close to downtown, very clean, and very comfortable. The guest house would be good for a family of four or two couples. Donna and Chris were delightful.

My wife and I have been traveling to Highlands at least once a year for the past 25 years, and our experience in staying at several lodging selections has made us loyal and happy customers of the Colonial Pines. We've stayed in the main inn for many years, but for the past six of seven years, we have rented Miss Rebecca's Cottage for a week at a time instead of rooming at the main inn. What a delightful experience Rebecca's cottage has been--three bedrooms, kitchen and dining area, quiet location, clean, scenic area, WiFi connection for those folks who decide to keep in touch or work, only about 1/2 mile walk to down-town, and suitable for more than two people; It is also important to mention prompt response from the inn keepers, Donna and Chris, anytime we've had questions or required minor problems to be addressed. Donna and Chris are the quintessential hosts for the B&B travelers, and have for the past many years kept the inn and cottage in immaculate condition, and treated us as valued guests every trip we have made to Highlands. Oh, I should also mentioned if staying at the main inn, travelers will experience what I consider the most delicious of any breakfasts one can find at any B&Bs in the Highland area.

Room Tip: Suggest staying at Miss Rebecca's cottage if your stay in Highlands will be for a week or more

Yes, another wonderful visit to Highlands , NC and two nights stay at Colonial Pines B & B.
As always we leave with such fun memories shared with Donna and Chris the owners. They make everything perfect for a short get away.
I will have to say that Donna is a fabulous cook (The Best Full Breakfast ) fit for a king.
It was and always is the best.
Thanks for sharing your home with us and we wish you many blessings in 2014. See you soon and thanks.
