“Another great Hampton Inn”
Reviewed October 24, 2011

Stayed one night with two of my children. Beds were comfy, room was very clean. I did hear some noise from the interstate, but it didn't keep me awake. If you are a light sleeper, I would ask for a room on the other side of the hotel. Staff was very friendly and breakfast was plentiful and yummy. Will definitely stay here again.

A nice new Hampton Inn with all the good things I like about the HI experience.

From the moment I walked through the door, I felt welcomed. Professional and friendly staff, great lobby, wonderful large room with comfortable bed, frig, microwave and flat screen. One doesn't need much more. The complaints about the quality of the furnishings seemed a bit off putting to me - they met the needs and served the purpose and did it well. Can't beat that.

The decor is modern and fresh, wood floors, pastel colors - which is a nice change from the older HI decor.

Great choice in Hickory with a Carrabba's right next door!

This facility replaced an "old friend" in the Hampton Inn, Hickory, that is now a Best Western. We probably stayed at the old place several dozen times over the years. The old building was getting shabby, and this new Inn is quite an upgrade...but then so is the cost of a room! And the room we had was big, but tasteless, drab, and had a cheap mini-fridge that ran all night. The bed was very comfortable though. I don't understand why Hampton spends so much to build attractive Inns with beautiful lobbies and amenities, hires great people, then puts junk in the rooms (the fridge, microwave, small screen TV, lighting, drapes, and radio were all low-end-cheap). The breakfast bar here was very good though, and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
We had requested a first floor room, and got it. Check in was a breeze. We might stay here again since Hickory's other choices for lodging are pretty bad, but this place does, however, cost a lot more than other choices. The bottom line though is that we've found for cleanliness and friendliness you can't beat a Hampton Inn.

How does a three-star hotel make it to the top of a list? When it is more like a four-star hotel! My husband I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Hickory as I had business next door at the convention center.
The hotel looks like any other Hampton Inn from the outside, but when you walk in to the building, you quickly realize this is a top-notch Hampton Inn. Wood flooring is abundant throughout the hotel. There is a huge eating area that is very inviting to use throughout the day and night. A long artisan-looking wood table sits in the middle of the room. Gas logs warm up the room for those cool foothills nights. The area that holds all of the food for breakfast is beautifully screened off from view. Numerous comfortable chairs and tables are scattered about.
When we checked in, we were warmly greeted by one of the front desk clerks. Everyone seemed to be very friendly. Early in the evening, one of the clerks talked to us for a while and we were offered the remaining cookies for the guests. It seems they discard whatever does not get eaten that day, and it was time to clean up for the evening.
Our room also had the appearance of being in a four-star hotel. It had contemporary light fixtures and artwork, which were pleasing to the eyes. We had requested a room on the backside of the hotel to avoid the road noise of the busy I-40. While the view is not the greatest, we did not hear a single 18-wheeler roaring down the highway. The beds in the room were very comfortable. Our sheets were soft. They must be popular with the guests as the hotel was advertising that one could purchase them from their website.
Your continental breakfast is pretty standard. There are two waffle makers to make Belgian-style waffles. The hotel’s staff kept the food containers full, and the area was always clean for everyone to eat. We ended up eating at the long table, next to the fire place which was on due to the cool temperature outside.
Despite all of our platitudes, we only gave this hotel four stars; it just isn’t a five-star hotel. Next time you have business in Hickory or need to stop for the evening, make this Hampton Inn your choice. You will be pleasantly surprised!

Very nicely maintained Hampton Inn. The staff is courteous, helpful and friendly. And, the pool was crystal clear. The close proximity to the convention center made this a very convenient site.

New hotel- large rooms with refrig. and microwave. All lamps have outlets for computers, phones. Staff friendly, very helpful. Walk it door to convention center. Good breakfast. Unusually large and comfortable dining area- conducive to late- night gatherings.
