New winery in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Will definitely be producing some very good local wines as the vines mature. They are building their own on-site fruit pressing facility so they will be hands on through the whole process. Wine tastings available both indoors or on the patio. You can pee-order lunch to enjoy during your visit.

Staff very friendly, especially, Pierre who did our tasting.

Even if you don't drink wine, go for the view....it's awesome!

Thank John K

Certainly NOT what I am accustomed to in the different areas of the US that I have been too. I have been to large regions like Napa and Oregon and small regions in Missouri, Tennessee and Illinois. The effort was certainly made to make it a nice experience, but, it is lacking. When we came in to taste, the lady at the tasting counter told us that we could not stand there because the group that was there before us...she had to gather there order from the slips they had filled out on the counter. We waited about 20 minutes, before she had filled there wine order, delivered lunches, rang up others that had walked in to make a purchase, all the while we and others had to stand back and wait. They do speak like they are informed, however, with my limited exposure, I could tell they were blowing smoke....for instance, one of the guests asked what kind of degree was required to be a wine maker...the answer," not sure the degree, but lots of education." Referred to Missouri as the "Sweet wine region"...incorrect. We were probably in the winery an hour and a half, by the time we were able to sample, pay for the tasting, and purchase a bottle of wine to meet our friends outside that were already enjoying the day.

We were looking for a local vineyard to take our guests later in the month. Burntshirt was recommended by a local; and we were happy to visit. The staff was friendly, they have wine tastings, a wonderful porch, lunch area, can order boxed lunches for you, there's walking areas, sitting areas. We're going back!

This winery is only in its third year although I think the vines themselves are older. The pamphlet mentions something about 80 years of craftsmanship but that's counting the previous endeavers of its owners and has NOTHING to do with grapes or wine. Vintner is brand new and hasn't yet bottled his own wine here. Wines we tasted were from a prior vintner. Tasting room is in a spot with atmosphere; not a storefront. Visit down the hill and across the road to the vineyard was interesting and informative.

We finally decided to visit this winery after driving past it several times. The tour is at 2pm sharp. The wine maker conducted the tour of the vineyards, which was really insightful. We enjoyed greatly. Then went indoors for a wine tasting. Ended up buying two bottles of excellent wine. Be sure you count this into your visit of the area.
