My fiancé is in the military and came in for a few days. I decided for his birthday, to surprise him with a trip to the NC mountains and to rent a cabin. My son, my brother, and his brother (who flew in from Ohio) came with us. I was so disappointed in the cabin. There were big globs of hair on the sheets in the master bedroom, rocks and chips on the floor in both the other bedrooms, bugs everywhere, yellow and white stains on the bedding in the master and twin bedroom. I called to tell Richard of our concerns but felt for the most part he was not helpful in addressing these concerns. Long story short, we ended up at a local resort (which was very nice). The uncleanliness of this cabin gave my 5 year old son an asthma attack. I had to pay $100 cleaning fee when booking, so assumed it would be clean as my son needs it clean with his asthma so was very upset! Also the "road" is more like a mile long dirt trail that would be easier to walk then drive the SUV up! Then once you get to the driveway for the cabin, be ready for an almost 90 degree angle drive up it! I have pictures but do not see a place to post them! OVERALL VERY DISSAPOINTED!!!
For those of you that really want to be in the land of the sky. Lovely cabin with everything you need for a wonderful getaway. We had a mini family reunion and thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, games, and accommodations. Plenty of room and the kitchen had everything you need to prepare a meal. The cabin was decorated appropriately.
That was the best cabin to stay in. I felt at home and didn't want to leave. The family had so much fun that weplan to return next year :)
The Black Beary cabin is a wonderful little enclave, perfect for our little family retreat into the mountains. The cabin is perched on a mountain, so take heed when the owner suggests an all wheel or front wheel drive vehicle. The cabin itself was very comfortable with a full kitchen, washer/dryer, dishwasher, and other household amenities. Our daughter really enjoyed the game room in the basement. We really enjoyed relaxing on the patio and taking in the beautiful greenery surrounding the cabin.
The drive to Hendersonville from the cabin is serene and so is the drive to Chimney Rock state park which we highly recommend. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay in Black Beary cabin and look forward to our next trip up there. Thank you for accomodating us Richard!
Needs some upgrades. Very isolated. Be prepared for the 1 mile gravel road with only 1 lane. Could use at least a toaster oven and the coffee maker could be upgraded. Should have at least one other queen size bed in one of the bedrooms.
My husband and I stayed with our 17 year old and our 20 year old and loved every minute of it. It was much bigger than I expected, super, super clean, beds were very comfortable and supplies in the cabin were more than enough. So quiet and secluded which is what we love. Made smores out in the fire pit, barbecued on the grill and ate outside on the deck, felt like we were in a tree house. In the end we were so sad to leave. Will definitely go back. I would love to see what it looks like in the fall.
