Downtown Hendersonville has a number of excelent restaurants, we have tried most of them, and Mezzaluna remains one of our favorites. There is just a touch of sports bar in Mezzaluna but not enough to be the main attraction. We try to avoid sports bars when we travel because we have more than enough of those at home! The menu offers something for everyone but my favorite is the Rainbow Trout, something that is not common to our home town places. Prices are reasonable, and the wine and beverage selection is large enoght to satify most tastes. When the resturant is crowded there is some noice but we didn't find that in interferred with our meals or conversation. We go to Mezzaluna whenever we visit the area and will go back the next time we are there.

Restaurant is located in downtown, on the main street. you may sit inside or outside. We opted for inside as it was muggy outside. Trendy atmosphere, some TV for sports, a bar along one wall. We were seated at a high bar stool table, and had a non-friendly waiter. He never gave us his name, and he did not appear to want to serve us. We asked to sample some of the tap beers, as we had not heard of some of them. He brought us samples, and we made our beer selections. We had seen the menu outside earlier in the day, and ordered the sun dried tomato and artichoke pizza. Pizza was delivered to the table, it was hot, but not right out of the fire hot (I like my hot food HOT). Pizza had good flavor, and we enjoyed it. We may or may not eat here again, and that is mostly due to the really unfriendly and poor service waiter. We also live near a "tourist town" in Tennessee, and I agree with other reviewers that a lot of the restaurants don't care about regular clients, and they know that tourists generally won't be back. As a tourist here, I will visit Hendersonville again, but I will try another restaurant near downtown.

grandmakatie,

There is no excuse for a staff member to be anything less than personable, accommodating, and well trained. We go to great lengths to train our staff. We will certainly use your feedback to improve.

Please know that we are accountable to each and every guest. Feel free to let us know, while you are still in the building, that we are falling short of your expectations. We view that as not a complaint, but an opportunity.

We are a tourist town. We are also a very small town. I would like to address your observation that we do not value regular clients. Take a look at our reviews. Many of our reviewers live in Hendersonville and many more just within 30 or 40 miles. If we snub our locals we do not survive! Period. Our reviews would indicate that our local guests love us.

We do make mistakes but not because we devalue locals or travelers. We make mistakes because we are a business run by people for people. We expect the occasional misstep. We also believe that our ability to recover, to get up and brush ourselves off, to apologize sincerely, is one of our greatest assets.

So give us another try. Say hello when you are here. We are very sorry to have underperformed. We are capable of great service and food and most of our guests see that and agree.

Mezzaluna, located in old-town Hendersonville, NC can seat you inside or out. We elected inside because it looked like rain, but the downside was that it was very noisy inside the restaurant. That said, the food was wonderful. We started with Calamari Frito (one serving gave everyone enough of an appetizer to satisfy) which was tender and delicious. Then, I had a baked manicotti ($10) that rivaled my own recipe and my husband said it was the best Chicken Parmesan he had ever had, bar none ($12). I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in or near Hendersonville, NC; however, I do also recommend sitting outside, weather permitting. Dinner with a couple of drinks, salad and the main course ran about $22-24 p.p.

We had the Salman, she, and Tuna, he...both were fantastic! She actually doesn't eat fish and loved it, he had Tuna and wished he'd had a "double". Great atmosphere, polite and timely service. No gluten free menu, but numerous options. Look forward to a return when in Hendersonville!!

Used to be a regular at Mezzaluna but lost our favorite bartender there. Since then the service and food has gone downhill. Was there Saturday night and had to send the salmon back three times because it was undercooked. The risotto was also underdone and "crunchy." Service at the bar is horrible. The bartender who used to be there would take care of us, really without our having to ask. If we ordered food at the bar he would make sure the order was correct before he brought it to us and made sure we were taken care of. The ones there now don't check on you consistently and one of the guys is more interested in the single ladies at the bar than his other customers. Really wish we enjoyed going there now but it's just not the same without our regular server. This restaurant is good for tourists, which it seems like they only cater to anymore.
