“Not to be missed”
Reviewed July 14, 2014

Dined with family using online reservation. Very nice ambiance and attentive service. Enjoyed complimentary pastry puff rolls with seasoned butter to start. For appetizers we had escargot bourguignons which were prepared perfectly and crawfish crepe which was very tasty. We were pleasantly surprised at the very reasonabe prices of the appetizers which sometimes can be over the top.. For main entrees we ordered the 14 oz ribeye, scallop casino, shrimp pasta jp, and house pot roast. All entrees were served nice and hot and were delicious. Portions were generous. We were all pretty full by now, but had to try at least one of the deserts and picked the death by chocolate moose ganache cake (actully not sure if it was called that) but it was was incredible!! Our waiter - David did an outstanding job. We highly recommed this establishment and wil be back whenever we are anywhere near the area.

“A gem nestled in the mountains!”
Reviewed July 13, 2014 via mobile

What a delight to find in the small town of Hayesville, North Carolina. The Scallops Casino was excellent and the Fruits De Mer had a broth that was so good, it could have been a meal by itself! For dessert, we had the chocolate mousse crepe and it was outstanding! The only complaint we had was that the shrimp was a little over cooked! Otherwise we could not recommend this restaurant more! Our waitress Amber was a delight! If you are ever in the area of Hayesville, NC, def go to this eatery! You will not be disappointed!

We're so glad you enjoyed your dinner - I apologize your shrimp were overcooked, though. And I'll be sure to let Amber know she's been reviewed as a delight! Thank you!

“Very enjoyable”
Reviewed July 9, 2014

Been here a few times. It is an incredible experience for small town dining, This trip was very good. My steak was very tender and would virtually melt in your mouth. My spouse had a New Orleans Amberjack that was perfectly seasoned (just spicy without going overboard). Ambiance was great. Service was a little under what we expect at the Copper Door. Wait staff missed several service points during the night. Only issue with the food, was the appetizer. Mussels were lack luster, and skimpy portion for the $.

“Unexpected upscale restaurant in a small town”
Reviewed July 8, 2014

My husband and I had dinner here on July 4th and were surprised to find them open. We weren't very hungry so we each ordered a small caesar salad, I ordered a crab cake appetizer, my husband ordered a smoked salmon appetizer and we shared the creme brulee dessert. With the salad also came a delicious bread cut in squares and served with a flavored butter. Everything was absolutely delicious! The crab cake was a generous size and made with white crab meat. The creme brulee lacked a little flavor but the berries on top helped. Our waiter was very formal and attentive. Would definitely return if in the area again.

“World-class Steakhouse”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

My wife and I have been going to Lake Chatuge for 6 years and The Copper Door is our special treat dinner stop. The steaks are outstanding. I had the filet with foie gras and was in heaven! There is no better dining experience within 30 miles.
