Bought some groupons for a 3 night stay to the Breakwater Inn and due to some delays in travel didn't arrive until 3 am and JoEllen had left our keys in the drop box for our late arrival (thanks again JoEllen!) and we were so thrilled when we walked into our beautiful 3rd floor room with our own private balcony overlooking the Pamlico Sound. The room with 2 queen size beds (VERY COMFORTABLE), cafe table with 2 chairs, giant tv, small kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker with provided coffee and condiments, nice big bathroom was SUPER CLEAN, beautifully decorated and so inviting. After a few hours sleep, we awoke, made coffee and sat out on our deck (2 chairs and table) and enjoyed the view of the boats and the sound.
Both of us said if we weren't there for just a couple of days we could have happily stayed in the room as it was that comfortable!

Unfortunately, late Friday because of the approach of Hurricane Sandy and the deteriorating weather we got a call that the owner was asking all guests to check out on Saturday instead of our planned departure on Sunday so we had to leave earlier than expected but we are already planning a trip back come late spring but since it would be to late to use my last remaining groupon, I immediately emailed groupon about the situation and they refunded my money. So kudos to the Breakwater Inn and Groupon!

Room Tip: Make sure your on the 3rd floor....the views are awesome!!!

Nice sound front room, very nice balcony with privacy walls and chairs to enjoy the view. Had dinner at the Breakwater restaurant and the flounder and tuna were amazing! Very relaxing stay! They were very helpful with good recommendations for things to do and places to eat! Highly recommended!

The Breakwater Inn is unique, clean, and comfortable. I couldn't be more pleased to stay in such a beautiful place after getting a great Groupon deal. The lady at the front desk was so kind and helpful. The balcony opened up to an amazing view!

My husband and I ended up here on a mid-October weekend that felt more like late summer, which came as a pleasant surprise. I found the hotel on Groupon and got a sound-frount room with private balcony, kitchenette, and two queen beds for $47.00. The view from the balcony was fantastic, especially as the sun began to set and the temperature dropped in the late evening. We had dinner at the Breakwater restaurant, which was also very good. An acoustic guitarist played live music (and even took the request of my husband to play our song) in bar adjacent to the dining room. We both ordered a nightly special, rockfish for me, and ribeye with fried oysters for him. Both entrees were deliciouis. And each of us enjoyed a North Carolina Kolsch beer on the house with the drink tickets we received at check-in. Coffee, fruit, and muffins were waiting in the office during the morning check-out. We left feeling satisfied with the entire experience. We will be back, and we will recommend to others.

Room Tip: Better view of the sunset and the dockt from the top floor

Great place and price. The view was superb, front desk very friendly. We watched several boats come and go from our balcony. Accommodations were superb. Did have some problems with the television; you had to turn it on manually, but the channels were changed with the remote.
