“Informative roadside stop”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

Beautiful access to beach with lots of information on migratory bird patterns and the nature of the outer banks and shifting sands. Wish there had been more information about the New New Inlet...but a nice place to stop along the highway and take a break.

“Great for Shelling”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

My wife and our two dogs made a day-trip to the OBX yesterday and went for a nice beach walk just south of the New Inlet temporary bridge. The beach is wide and the sand packed down due to the tides so it is made for strolling. There is a very convienient ocean-side parking area just past the bridge where you can access the beach, and I believe there is also a sound-side access just south of the ocean-side parking area, where this past summer I saw people launching kayaks and then travese the inlet to the ocean. All-in-all a cool new beach spot that seems to be a natural draw. And as the title suggests, we brought home lots of great shells for our collection.

“Mother Nature at Work”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

Couldn't travel to Ocracoke via Hatteras last year due to the hurricane damage - including New Inlet. There's a temporary bridge in place for the time being so, check it out while you can. Highway 12 is open and the ferrys to Ocracoke are running this year. See what nature can do.
