“Just average BBQ”
Reviewed January 14, 2012

Have not been in a while, but was not impressed. Hannah's with several locations in the area is much better.

“Don't let the location fool you...awesome food!”
Reviewed January 7, 2012

We love to go to Sims for the food and the great live music and dancing. It is a fun place for all ages and every time the food is awesome. First time I went I was a bit concerned as it is way out in the country...or at least it seemed that way, but once I went in I fell in love the warm people and great food. Be ready to clog or watch other's of all ages. Enjoy and have a great time!

“Hicksville with decent food”
Reviewed October 19, 2011

As new residents in the area we were encouraged to go here, as an "experience". That it was. Food buffet was decent on paper plates and all you can eat. NO ALCOHOL signs everywhere. Not really a problem for us, but it gives you a flavor of this place, as does the picnic tables to sit on, the separate window to buy your lemonade or ice tea in old plastic pictures. Nothing else offered, and the dogging, or whatever you can call it. It was nothing like any decent Irish or Scott clogging we have ever seen, so don't get your hopes up. The music, which is live was very good.
See it once, especially with the kids, but I bet most people don't return on any regular basis.

“Very entertaining evening”
Reviewed September 4, 2011

My daughter found out about this place from some friends in the local area. We were visiting and relocating her to college. We drove about 30 minutes north of Hickory and you feel like you're driving deep into America farmland, which you are. This BBQ place is in a beautiful farm field surrounded by fields of sunflowers. This family style BBQ was very good and their iced tea was perfect. Seating in this long barn style building is picnic bench style. The best part of this BBQ is the bluegrass music that is played at the end of the barn on stage. There is a dance floor active with cloggers. You can eat, drink and truly be merry! We loved the entertainment from the beautiful musicians playing fiddles, banjos, guitars and more. Don't miss this BBQ bluegrass experience.

“Good family fun”
Reviewed February 11, 2011

Sims is a family favorite. It's a neat place to take visitors from out-of-town. You pay as you enter, grab plate and let them fill it for you. Then get another if you want, it's all you can eat. Dining is open family-style, seat yourself (usually making new friends). The huge fireplace is nice. Live bluegrass music fills the entire barn. There is a dance floor for showing-off your clogging or just having fun, it really doesn't matter if you know how to dance or not. Kids love it. After dinner, you can move to the stands or loft to enjoy the band or get out there and dance. Step outside for a game of horseshoes or walk to the pond.
