I enjoyed my stay at the Perrakis, however there are a few things that could be improved upon. The beach needs upgrading badly. Beach not kept or clean. When asked for beds on beach I was told theat it was too early to put them out (May) Evening meals could be upgraded and the owner is not very approachable. The location and position of the hotel is fabulous!!

Room tip: All rooms have a sea view, but bathrooms could be bigger!!

Thank you for your review.

The period in which you visited we still did not have the licence for the beach. The ridiculous law prevents us from setting up the beach without certain papers. We do however clean it regularly. I swim there too. The law has changed and now we have a 3 year licence. I am sure if you visit us again things will be a lot better.

Best regards,
Phillip

So a lot of positives and a few negatives about this hotel

Positives - superb location, wonderful views from all rooms
nice sandy beach, sheltered from most winds - unlike many others on the island
Good quality restaurant - international menu (welcome relief after what can be monotonous fare from the tavernas), good service
Nice pool - some reviews describe it as small - it is a decent size.
Very clean - our room was left spotless every day.
Friendly, smiley staff.

Negatives: breakfast is fine but after a few days gets a bit boring as it doesn't alter - fresh orange juice isn't available and on a couple of days orange squash was served.
Rooms are basic - and on first acquaintance seem smaller than the website depicts.
Beds - actually the worst part of our stay. Really, really hard and uncomfortable.

All in all, this is a good hotel in an exceptional location and it represents value for money. I would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone requiring above average accommodation on a very quiet and simple island. I believe that the official classification is a 3 star and it seems much better than this - if the management could make one or two improvements, e.g. the quality of the beds, the quality of the stay would be improved further.

Room tip: Second floor rooms have large terraces

Lovely family hotel but could do with some improvements like new beds and without the extra cost of some items for breakfast, like fresh orange juice. About 3k from nearest town and I do think you need a car as walking on the road without a footpath, I felt, was quite dangerous. Lovely beach area but music too loud for me. I loved the outdoor terrace for an evening drink and the food was very good. All in all a great place for getting away from it all and not costing a fortune

Situated a 10 min drive out of Gavio (the main port) and 45 mins drive from Andros Town. Located on a hillside with every room overlooking over Kypri Bay (no quaint sunsets, sorry!). Being on the lee side of Andros the beach is a little more protected from the annual summer winds. Super bar, lounge deck and restaurant overlooking the Bay. Access to a great beach across the road and beach bar with free sunbeds(albeit the far better beach is a 5 min walk away > Golden Beach > one of the very best I have ever seen in Greece - All sand > child friendly > beach bar). Lap pool, pool bar and terrace overlooking the Bay (not child friendly | no depth markers | no easy exit points). Excellent food. Superb friendly staff. Rooms are OK. Some with balconies and some with terraces (different price points). Basic, modern, A/C, fridge, safe. Comfortable, rather than memorable. Bathrooms > oops... not their strong point. Miniscule would be an understatement. Shower only. Yes, they have a hairdryer. The hotel is spotlessly clean and well maintained. Now will it suit you? The plus points > Beachside, overlooks Kypri Bay, great hospitality & food. You come here to chill out (& there is no similar alternative on Andros). The downsides > The hotel is on a hillside and has no lift, so if you have mobility issues then forget it | The hotel is beside the main road on a blind corner between Gavio & Andros (it can be noisy and is simply dangerous to cross to get to the beach) | There is nothing to walk to if you want a bar or taverna | The Beach bar and beach are lively (They like loud music non-stop) | local buses are infrequent, so a car is recommended. Should any of this put you off? NO. It really is a great hotel for 3 to 7 nights max stay would be our call, but it is best to set your expectations and then you will enjoy your stay all the more. Thank you Perrakis we had a most enjoyable holiday.

Room tip: Check the room description before you book to get what suits you i.e. terrace or balcony
