“Great job...needs a prime location and a bigger place”

Empire Fire is one of two Asian all-you-can-eat places on Berekeley Blvd in Goldsboro. The other is Hibachi.

Empire Fire does a better job and keeps things fresher, but it's not in the prime location that the other one is in. Still, with the amount of customers that they bring in, they could double it with a move to a bigger location.

Additionally, this is a more authentic Mongolian taste than the other.

This is a good place for eating fresh food. Like other Mongolian restaurants, you get to go through and pick out the vegetables and meats that you want to eat. They have a nice selection of vegetables and many meats, including dark or white meat chicken, beef, shrimp, lamb, squid, ham and sausage. The bowl that they give you is pretty large, so you should be able to get plenty of food for your main entree. When you give them your bowl, they ask how spicy and proceed to spice it themselves. It was not busy when we went, and our meals were cooked in mere minutes! You get to choose between white and fried rice. You also get to choose between egg drop soup, wonton soup or hot-n-sour soup. Also included with your meal is a salad bar, some additional hot side items like egg rolls and fish, as well as desserts and ice cream. That is a lot of food! As far as quality, the meat and vegetables are good. The egg drop soup was not good at all. The rice and sesame bread that they bring to your table is bland. The desserts on the dessert bar are good but were a little warm instead of chilled. The service was very good. The atmosphere is your typical buffet style setup. For dinner including two entrees, one soda and a water, the bill totalled about $21.00 before tip. We would definitely go again.

Seems like the Asian buffets have reached the South. Although endless BBQ billboard ads assault your road-weary eyes, my wife and I were pleased to notice a little diversity while traveling through Goldsboro.
The choices here are moderate, not like the over-the-top choices up North, but the vegetables were fresh and the meats seemed grade A. Service was polite and efficient. Overall, a worthwhile diversion that spiced-up our trip.
