We enjoyed our visit to this restaurant and will hopefully be able to return the next time we are in the area. We ordered two of the specials offered for the Friday night that we were there, salmon stuffed with spinach covered with a light dill sauce, the fish kabobs, and the stuffed eggplant from the menu. All of the meals were excellent and beautifully plated. There was a small crowd that evening but with soft music playing, it was easy to visit, sit back, and relax. The meal was not rushed so there was time to enjoy wine and conversation. We learned that this a family owned business. The chef at the present time is the owner who gave up his job in a prestigious golf community to try it on this own. Slowly the proprietor is making improvements to the the restaurant with more improvements planned in the near future. This is one of Garner's best kept secrets.

Surprised to find such excellent food in a local neighborhood restaurant. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous. Alexander's is a relatively new restaurant opening in 2013. Went there with a group of 18 people for dinner. We had reservations but being a small place we divided into two groups. Fortunately, my end of the table was first to have our orders taken. This was fortunate because we got to eat first. Unfortunately, we ate, finished, later got our bill while most of the 18 had yet to be served. My guess is that even if several small parties came in around dinner time the food delivery service would have been slow.
The food here is excellent, but to succeed this restaurant will have to improve their efficiency. Perhaps as a new place they do not have the resources to hire sufficient chefs.... The staff was very friendly and helpful and everyone commented how e=good the food was. I will definitely go back but until they become established I recommend arriving early for better service. I hope this restaurant succeeds as this is a real gem for our area.

First of all, this restaurant is located at 261 not 263 in a strip mall behind the post office. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. The website deceptively recommended reservations (one other table seated there on a Friday night) and bragged of multiple awards. Not sure what they were talking about. The restaurant obviously was recently an oriental restaurant...even the plates have red dragon borders on them. The walls are almost Caribbean colored in melon and turquoise with Asian-inspired furniture styles and cheaply-framed Greek travel posters on the walls. The food was OK, uninspired and much microwave warmed. It tasted fine but just not fresh. Probably won't go again, but not awful.

This is one of those "hidden treasures". The food is really terrific, but hardly anyone is ever in this place. It used to be a Chinese restaurant for many years, right next to the post office. It has changed recently to serve foods from all around the Mediterranean Sea - Italian, Greek, Middle Eastern, and North African. You can even get good pork chops with the richest mashed potatoes you've ever eaten served next to beautiful, colorful steamed vegetables. The food presentation on the plates is outstanding. The grilled halibut is excellent, and my friends loved the sea bass/pasta dish. Their salads are enormous, and always very fresh and loaded with extras and served with homemade dressings. Truly, if you "dine first with your eyes" you will love to see what they put in front of you. It far outclasses anything else in this area, yet the prices are very good. In fact, in June and July, they are having a "buy one entree and get one 50% off" for a dinner special. The only thing that needs a bit of improvement is the ambiance. While there's no cozy feel, it is clean and spacious. But, hey, with food this good, you'd be silly to let that hold you back from trying it! Please support them. We need to keep an excellent place like this in business in Garner.
