I never stayed in a Microtel before and did not expect much as other hotels were much higher in price. The hotel room was large, but smelled a little. The hotel provded us with room spray and that helped. The room had a fridge, microwave, coffeemaker and lots of fluffy towles. The breakfast was good with juice, cereal, sausage biscuits, muffins, fruit and the hotel was in a great location. The staff was nice and friendly I would stay there again.

I’d agree with another reviewer that this is not a luxury hotel by any means. There’s no amenities, the outside is just a parking lot with no gardens, but one side of the building has the perfect view of the mountains. The rooms do not match the rest of the hotel. The corridors, front desk area and eating area are way outdated. But the rooms look as if they have been renovated in the last year.
The breakfast was ummmm basic continental for lack of better description. There are about 2 tables to sit at off a hallway.
The rooms were tiny and dark. BUT very nicely updated and exceptionally clean!!! Beds were comfy and there was a nice sitting bench area at the window.
Would we stay again? Yes, if we were stopping for 1 night in the area. The rooms being as nicely decorated and clean as they were made the hotel worth staying at. AAAA+++ for the cleaning staff too

Room Tip: Ask to stay on the side with the mountain views.

Just spent a week at this motel and it is one of the best options in the area for a short stay. We come here often when we visit relatives in the area. Can't go wrong for the price. Clean and quiet. In restaurant row so eating isn't a problem. You can walk to Fatz.

Let's first be clear - thsi is not a luxury hotel. That being said, we found the Microtel Inn to be an excellent quick-stay crib. Yes, the roms are small, and agreed, they don't have ammenities like a pool and workout room. However, for convenient location, comfortable bed, better-than-most contennential breakfast, and great rates you can't beat it. Thanks Microtel!

Room Tip: No elevator. If you can't take a couple flights of stairs get a ground floor room

There was like 4 or 6 places to eat within walking distance. A short distance at that. Also there is a gas station next door for getting soda and such for room. Would stay again. Front desk very helpful.

Room Tip: We ate breakfast nextdoor at the huddle house. Being from wisconsin it was my first time. Very good...

If you wish to have anything larger then one queen sized bed to sleep in then don't use priceline.com when booking Microtel, Franklin, NC. Also, no pool, no workout room.

If a friendly and helpful staff is your first priority for a nice hotel, the Microtel in Franklin will fit the bill nicely. I have only accolades in this regard. In addition, the Fatz Cafe and Shoney's are a short walk away, which is quite convenient.

They do also accept pets, which is a very nice plus. This is why we stayed. I often stay at the Comfort Inn in Franklin when traveling with my small dogs...but, decided to try the Microtel for a change. I regretfully report it is unlikely I will make that decision again. Though I appreciate hotels that accommodate pets, and understand the rooms may not be in stellar condition, I don't appreciate them at any cost. Despite having some adequate attributes, the room set aside for pet owners had the most disagreeable odor. Some might argue that one should expect this when traveling with pets. I have enough travel experience to strongly disagree, however, and believe the reason you pay the extra pet fee is not only for the convenience, but to allow for the extra carpet/furniture replacement when necessary. The room was in dreadful need of a carpet cleaning or replacement (as I presume that is where the smell was emanating from)...as well as paint. The room was the most stimulating and garish tone of yellow I have ever had the misfortune of coming across in a bedroom...though it certainly matched the smell. Fortunately, we were far too busy during our stay to spend much time there.

It may very well be that the rooms NOT set aside to accommodate traveling pets are quite comfortable, so I cannot speak in this regard. I can only imagine that they are, given the Microtel seems to mostly have nice reviews. However, this was not the experience for us.
