“Great Experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2009

My daughter and I visited Fayetteville for a friend's bridal shower and we stayed in this hotel on a Saturday night. We arrived early and our room wasn't quite ready, but the woman at the front desk was very nice and said it would be ready soon. We went about a block away and got some coffee at a great new funky coffee place called The Coffee Scene and got a couple of really great lattes. When we arrived back at the hotel, our room was ready. We stayed on the second floor and everything was very, very clean. We encountered several staff members on our way to the room and they all said hello. We had two queen beds and the room was spotless. There was a mini fridge and a wall hair dryer in the room and everything worked well. I travel a lot and am used to things not being as promised, but did not have that experience here.

The only negatives were that the entire pool area was closed for some reason...but the weather was beautiful and I didn't see anyone working on it. The temps. were in the 80's, so it would have been nice to use the pool. It obviously hadn't been used yet this season. The other negative that in order to have the breakfast buffet there, you are charged $9.95 per person, which we thought was ridiculous for what they offered and considering I paid $144.00 for our room. So...we went to IHOP and it was very good. The other little annoying thing, was there is no mirror anywhere but the little foyer outside the toilet area in the room, so it was a little difficult for two women to do hair/makeup etc. with only one mirror. We thought that was odd.

Checkout was easy and there were no unauthorized charges or issues and the front desk gentleman was very nice.

We stayed at the Courtyard on the way to Florida and although it was somewhat "off the beaten path" from I-95, it was a good place to stay. The rooms were very clean and the bedding comfortable, and everything was in working condition. My only advice is to ask for a room on the upper floors away from the elevator. There were a bunch of folks coming in really late (3-4 AM) who were noisy and inconsiderate of people trying to rest. This might only be because it was spring break week, so it may not be typical.

My fiance and I stayed there this past week on business and overall it was very nice!

Pros: very clean, comfortable bed/pillows, microfridge allowed us to go cheap some nights and buy groceries, in a great location (walking distance to Texas Roadhouse, Carrabas, and Joe's Crab Shack), less than 5 minute drive to everything else, free internet, indoor jacuzzi was nice, staff was very helpful and courteous, very quiet rooms.

Cons: Not their fault, but the Morgantown road bridge over All American Freeway is out, so you have to take a slight detour to get to the mall, but it isn't bad. king bed rooms are a bit cramped, but there is enough space. internet isn't wireless.

Although the hotel is at least a decade past its prime, the staff does a good job of keeping it clean and as presentable as the outdated and tired decor permits. Terrible potpourri stench on the first floor at the elevator. Bed was quite comfortable with decent pillows. Noisy in-room heater/air conditioner. Sandpaper bath towels, though the face towels were usable. Bath water was barely hot and petered out even for a short shower. Quite dim lighting throughout the room, but the desk lamp for task lighting is barely more than a nightlight. Desk chair is either terribly low or the desk is inordinately high -- definitely not somewhere you could actually work for any stretch of time. Because of the cleanliness, however, it's worth a stay if you can get a deal on the rate.

This Courtyard Marriott provides decent, inexpensive lodging. The best thing about the hotel is the complementary breakfast buffet, which has lots of variety and hot food including eggs, waffles, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, grits, potatoes, etc. Another plus is the good places to eat within easy walking distance, including a Texas Roadhouse right across the street. Cross Creek Mall is just on the other side of the All American Freeway.

I really struggled to get the temperature right in my room. Stifling hot and cold (off) seemed to be the only two available options. Also, there were minor maintenance issues like a burned out light bulb and a nonfunctioning telephone.

I wouldn't mind staying here again for the right price.

I booked this hotel based on reviews here. Was in town for a wedding and although I'm glad I stayed at this hotel as opposed to other wedding guests who were booked at other hotels (shoddy) that they did not like whatsoever, still, I was expecting a little more being I have stayed at other Marriott properties, and my only gripes are the uncomfortable bed, the sliding door to the bathroom and the lack of a full-size ironing board (it was a small tabletop ironing board, very surprised at this for a hotel). We checked in early so they had to put us in a handicap room. BIG bathroom but the door had to be fixed which took him over an hour to get that done. The bed was very uncomfortable, hardly got any sleep, but other than that you can't beat the cleanliness of the hotel and their grounds, courtesy and quickness of the staff for whatever you needed to be done, as well as the complimentary internet connection (which is slower than our DSL at home but still it's free so that's a plus). The hotel is situated in a very nice area. Plenty of parking. Everything is within walking distance and drive down the road and you're there (Rite Aid, Walmart, restaurants, the big mall and gas stations). Would I stay here again, I doubt it because my attraction to Marriott hotels is not just the cleanliness but the comfort of their beds and bed linens, that's important for me when choosing a hotel and this one didn't deliver, which was a first.

  • Liked — Cleanliness of the hotel...
  • Disliked — Bed was very uncomfortable...
