My stay started off a little rocky - the night manager while checking me in took a call from her daughter then started arguing back and forth with her, then took a hotel-related call. I didn't feel like I was given any attention. The room was adequate - clean, but located next to vending/ice. Fortunately it was a quiet night. Wi-fi worked great. Breakfast in the morning was one of the most expansive spreads I've seen at a Hampton. Very nice! Lots of shopping/restaurants in the vicinity.

We stayed two nights at the Hampton Inn Fayetteville Cross Creek Mall location in September of 2008. My overall impression is that it was good, but not great.

First off, if you are not familiar with the area, it's a little complicated trying to find the entrance to the hotel. Once we figured it out, it wasn't a problem, but it wasn't exactly straightforward.

The room was typical size, and the beds were pretty comfortable. It had the (now) standard Hampton white comforters with a pile of pillows to choose from.

The bathroom was clean, and adequate. Although the fluorescent light in the bathroom worked when we got there, the next morning it flickered, but wouldn't come on. I made a quick phone call to the front desk about it before we left for the day, and when we returned, the situation had been taken care of. Good service is always appreciated!

One thing I like about Hamptons is that they include a hot breakfast, not just a continental breakfast. This hotel had prepackaged breakfast entrees in a refrigerator, with microwaving instructions. Not as good as what I've eaten at other Hamptons, but I can understand why they'd go that route -- they don't have to hire someone to warm and serve the food.

Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. It was a little pricier than other Hampton Inns I've stayed at, but pretty much in line for the area -- I shopped around before booking it.

On the positive side: when we first went to our room, neither of our keys would work. The desk clerk gave us new ones, which did. A few minutes later, she called and checked on us, to make sure we were able to get into our room. That was nice!

This Hampton Inn is not as nice as many HI's and is not as nice as it was about 7 years ago under a former manager. It used to be a top 10 hotel, but it has definitely gone down hill.

Check-in was more entertaining than it needed to be. The front desk employee spent most of the time flirting with the housekeepers that were all gathered around the desk instead of focusing on the customer. I was there 15 minutes before check-in time and he acted as if this was such a major deal. Why, I don't know since the rooms were ready for the most part.

The rooms were single rooms (had reserved kings, but got 1 double bed rooms). Although they were clean and well appointed, they were TINY. It had nice soap, decent towels, good pillows etc. Although some furniture was in need of repair, the overall room opinion was nice. The walls were soundproof, which I was initially worried about since the hotel was obviously packed by looking at the parking lot.

The breakfast bar was pretty good with no complaints from anyone in my group.

I've given the hotel an "above average" as compared to other hotels in Fayetteville. However, it would get a "below average" if it was compared to other Hampton Inn's. If you are used to HI's, then you will be disappointed by this property. If you are used to Fayetteville hotels, you will be pleased. Hilton is opening a Hilton Garden Inn on Sycamore Dairy Road in the near future which is where we will stay after it opens.
