“Great in the Off-Season”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

We stayed here recently after their big Halloween weekend celebrations. The rates are reduced each year after that event and you can camp in the Red and Yellow sections that are closest to the beach. We like the Red section for you can have a sea view - the campground is not full by any means and you are unlikely to have a big rig right alongside you. In any event, the lady in the office is most accommodating to changing your site if you wish. The bathhouse was extremely clean. The rates are high even for off-season and, at that price, I was surprised that we were charged extra for the cable TV. My only complaint was that the trash was not collected until the evening and by that time, many bags had already been attacked by birds. There's a great shrimp shack within walking distance where we bought shrimp to cook.

We went here in August and was pleasantly surprised after reading some of the negative reviews. We camped in the yellow section which is very close to the beach. The toilets and showers are very clean, i was impressed. All out neighbours were quiet except for one, suppose you have to expect that when your so close to people. We used the pool a couple of times, it was usually empty and very nice although the outside shower at the pool was bad, it just smelled of gas and can't imagine what that was. There is an inside shower just next to the pool so I used that one. I'd suggest a bicycle if your not renting a golf cart because getting from the pool to the beach is a long way on a hot summers day. Some of the sites back from the beach but still in the red area had an ocean view. I hope to go back again next year just hope they don't put up their prices. Dogs are allowed on the beach, on leash.

Room Tip: Cheaper by the entrance and pool but thought it was worth paying more to be close to the beach. Some...

There are mostly big or long term campers here but off season we had a great site convenient to the beach. Emerald Isle beach is great & not a lot of camping for short term stays in the area. Friendly folks staying there. I bet the place is hopping in the summer. Very clean bathrooms. A bit tricky to find even though it's right at a stoplight. It's behind the Valero gas station. Signage almost non existent.

This campground is ocean front. The road side of it has great shady spots. The beach side doesn't have shade but you are close to the ocean. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The grounds are very well kept. The bathhouses are all tile, air conditioned, and very clean. They have planned activities and a great pool. They have an arcade and a snack bar right on the beach. People of all ages. Not commercialized like myrtle beach but plenty to do unlike the outer banks.

Room Tip: Campground - you bring your own room.

We wanted to go on a spontaneous weekend beach trip to Emerald Isle or the surrounding area but didn't want to pay the peak rates for a hotel room- our solution? Camping, of course. This place was fine for our purposes- 2 minute walk to the beach, acceptable bathrooms, and affordable (comparatively). The location was fine and it felt safe. Overall, it was a pleasant redneck commune, it served our purposes, but we probably won't be back.

Wasn't overly impressed. Golf carts are EVERYWHERE. Roads up and down the park are very narrow and was a little difficult to maneuver our 38' fifth wheel. Biggest turn-off was receiving our first nasty-gram within an hour of being there. Apparently they don't allow the standard 9'x12' RV mats at the front door. Only a max size of 2'x3'! So we got back to our camper to find a note on the door telling us our mat was a no-no. Very expensive per night, additional $$ for each person over 4 in the party, and no free WIFI. The bath houses weren't clean and we had to pay a $5 cash-only deposit on the key to the bath house. The location is great, but overall we were pretty disappointed.

This was our first trip to Emerald Isle. I am always a little apprehensive about staying in new places. We stayed for four nights at this campground. Everything about it was awesome.....the staff at the front check in were friendly, bathrooms were clean, pool was awesome. I cannot wait to go back.
