“a great meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 13, 2013

We had heard this little restaurant was good, but I don't think we fully expected the unique and diverse menu to be so satisfying. The building is cozy, well decorated and hip. A nice surprise in Elkin. Service was just right. Whatever you do, don't miss the filet. An absolute treat. Perfectly prepared, tender and a whopping 10 ounces for $24. I had mine served with the brussel sprouts…divine. The mac and cheese was a little disappointing. We also had the duck and tuna appetizers. The tuna was mediocre but the duck was amazing. It was a little odd to not have any salad options and the drink/wine list was a bit lacking. The entire menu was vague with less than detailed descriptions of the dishes. With all of that said, we will definitely go back and have recommended it to several. It would be a wonderful place to dine with a group of friends as the appetizers are large, varied and many.

“Exceptional...finish your Yadkin Valley visit here!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 28, 2013

First of all, this restaurant is tucked away in sleepy Elkin and you would never guess that a first class restaurant like this would be there. We had reservations for eight. There are many interesting entrees on the menu and it was hard to settle on one item. We chose two family style entrees - the whole chicken and roast beef. Both were excellent. Be sure to try the greens, they are out of this world. Also, they just changed the menu the week we went. It is located on the corner in a two story building with a second dining area and wine bar upstairs. I highly recommend it. It is one of those restaurants that delivers a true dining experience. Chef Jeremy was kind enough to visit with us at our table after our meal. All of us were impressed with the food and the staff. The wine list has local wines, too.

“Excellent restaurant in a small town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2013

What a surprise to find an upmarket gem in a small town. We went there because of the TA reviews, on a quiet evening. The staff had some time to talk with us, which is great for out-of-town folks like us. The restaurant is in an old two-story storefront, and the old brickwork has been preserved nicely.

Great apps that day were fried green tomatoes in panko with remoulade and pimento cheese spreads, shrimp and grits (WOW), and clams with jalapenos, bacon, etc.

Two of us had spicy Carolina burgers, and one had duck breast with quinoa, peas and grilled Brussels sprouts. The bread was herbed and very fresh, and cornmeal muffins were served with pimento cheese and apple butter. A nice glass of local Riesling went well with the duck.

“Bad experience”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2013

The new menu was terrible. The pairings on plates were poor and there is a lack of variety on entree options. The filet was over seasoned and pork was rare and tough. The menu was predominately heavy with too much use of bacon, potatoes, and cheese. Green salad options were lacking. Side portions were too large.
On the other hand, service was good.
