“2 adults and 2 kids do Hargate!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2013

We visited Hargate hall and usually I get the shocked "She has pink hair glare!," from owners; nothing of the sort here! we were made very welcome on arrival, our 2 girls forgot their winter coats so the owners wife lent us 2 good warm coats. We were given great ideas for a place to take the girls trick or treating which was a real treat for the girls since we arrived on halloween.
The room which we stayed in was the Bakewell room, very cosy, quirky and clean. Kids loved it and it also opened out onto an outdoor area. We stayed in the basement room which was charming and the girls slept in the mezzanine. The little arched bedroom area was so enchanting, it has actually given us inspiration for our next home move. Electric meter was very reasonable and the whole apartment was kept warm on about £6 for 4 days.
Overall, I can only say that we did not want to leave, the owners were some of the most welcoming people with lovely children and we are already planning on our next stay at Hargate Hall. Many thanks to the owners, you have a beautiful and welcoming place!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Bakewell room which comfortably sleeps 8 people. Mezzanine is great for kids.

What a lovely property to enjoy! We spent 3 nights in this charming spot, and recommend it for anyone wanting a base from which to explore this very beautiful area.
Our well behaved collie dog was welcomed and the lovely grounds were great for a quick exercise. If you want 5*, luxury and sophistication this is not your place. If you want well equipped, clean, comfortable accommodation in a characterful property, you've found it! It needs vast smounts of investment, to bring it up to perfection, but then would it be affordable?
Buxton has plenty of shopping for food as well as walking paraphernalia.... And some chic things! Coffee shops and rather a lot of charity shops! The pub food in villages around is very good. The welcome you'll be given by the locals is second to none!

We had our annual reunion at Hargate Hall for the past two years. I couldn't think of a better place where to spend time with your friends, having an amazing time, immersed in a beautiful countryside. The owner Anthony and his lovely family are the greatest hosts you ca think of. Discreet, friendly and accommodating. This truly stunning mansion, has been divided into several self catered flats. The actual garden is enough to host a mini festival. The kids facilities are simply great.
I would recommend to anyone this place; not to mention that you are located in one of the most beautiful part of England. Simply amazing.

Room Tip: if you are travelling with kids, I would avoid choosing any room with a steep staircase, for obvious...

So peaceful and quiet, yet close enough to Buxton town for everything you need.
Apartments are really nice, not super modern, but the style is fitting with the character of the property!
Very welcoming as well.
Ideal wedding setting with marque to rear as well.
Would highly recommend for a break or event!

We spent a lovely two nights here in a very spacious apartment within this very character full hall. The facilities were good with a full cooker and hob, microwave, toaster kettle fridge and Wi-Fi. We were warmly greeted and made to feel welcome. It is well located with Buxton, Bakewell and Tideswell close by. I would have no concern to recommend it to family and friends and will definitely return.

We bought this little weekend away on Groupon and was a little nervous to what it was going to be like but when we arrived it was just what we wanted.

As we are saving for a house and still living with parents we do like to get away as much as we can so a apartment holiday is great for us to have a little bit of normal living.
The Kitchen was spotless and had all the equipment that we needed. The bathroom was lovely and big but the hot water didn't get as hot as I would have liked.
There was a few things that needed touching up with paint but it's families that mostly use it so you can excuse it.
We would love to return to the Hall again in summer and make most of the grounds. It's in a great location and run but great people.

Thank you for your feedback, particularly about the hot water. Normally this is not a problem but it can be when it gets very cold. We are working on installing a bigger better heating system which will be able to come better with the demands of maintaining the hot water even when the radiators are on. I have now replaced all the immersion heaters as well so that they can help keep the temperature up.

We hope to see you back here soon
