I don't know where the bad reviews come from. I suppose everyone can have a bad day. I have stayed at this Doubletree for approximately 14 nights since June 2011 (most recently last week and am going back this week). I travel from CA to NC on business and this place is great. The front desk staff is excellent: greet you with a smile, very helpful, and happy to assist you in any way they can. The drivers are great as well. Just ask and the front desk will arrange for the Doubletree van to take you just about anywhere, including the airport, free of charge.

The rooms are clean and inviting. Housekeeping is great.

The bar is fantastic. It has an impressive selection of spirits and beer for such a small, lower end Hilton chain. The service is EXCELLENT. Kevin is just hands down awesome.

The restaurant (the bar and restaurant servers often overlap) is nice, but the food is not exactly top notch. Of course, you can't go wrong with breakfast (including making your own waffles) or a burger or salad. Just don't venture too far from the basics. It's not poor quality, it's just that the chef(s) are apparently not too interested in making anything tasty other than the basics. Worry not, you are a short free van/shuttle ride from a nearby mall with every restaurant you could possibly imagine, from burgers to 5 star.

It is a perfect place for a business stay. I would recommend it for families too, but I am not sure where it is in relation to tourist spots.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the lake. Nicer view.

Was here for business trip. The lobby is probably the nicest thing about this place. Front desk was very nice and pleasant, but there were many disappointments with this hotel. First, the high speed internet (which they charge $10 for) is incredibly slow. Especially past 8pm, it was pretty much snail slow. If people are here for business, how can they do any work if the internet is so poor! Luckily internet was free for me, but I feel sorry for anyone that would have to pay for that. Another problem was with the cable. The front desk was notified of a channel not working, and while they called back several times to see if it was resolved, it never was during the stay. Food at the hotel restaurant was pretty poor. Chicken wings seemed microwaved (top was sizzling hot, bottom was lukewarm...), and side that's supposed to come with vermicelli came with spaghetti... Room was ok otherwise, just not what you would expect from a Doubletree

Our room on the 7th floor was nice with a great view of the lake. The room was clean, although furnishings are a little dated. Check-in was quick and accurate. The warm cookies were a special treat. The room has a microwave and refrigerator which is a plus. I enjoyed the king bed, which slept very well. Breakfast was good, with a nice variety of items. We had a bad experience at dinner. We waited 5-7 minutes to be seated at an empty restaurant. The waitress who finally seated us had a great personality, which we enjoyed. The food was subpar for us, which means we did not return for dinner. Overall, I will probably try this hotel again to see if it just happened to be an off day.

Room Tip: The higher floors have a great view of the lake.

Overall a very nice hotel with great, friendly staff. The location is right off I 40 which is convenient to most areas. South Point Mall 5 minutes away and the hotel offers transportation from the hotel and to shops/restaurants as well. Rooms are very big, but furnishings/lights are a little outdated and could be remodeled. Ice machines not on every floor, but overall that is a minor complaint. I would stay here again on future business.

I spent 1 night at the DoubleTree. Check-in was quick and I received my complimentary cookie. That was it for special amenities though (no water or other goodies). The suites are huge, with two very large rooms, one with a sitting area, table / desk, and refrigerator and microwave, and the other the large bedroom. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The room was very warm when I arrived. I set the thermostat all of the way down and it was comfortable for sitting within a few hours, but I still found it too warm for sleeping. The hotel was quiet. One annoying thing was that the LCD clock did not have a light, so every time I'd wake up (because I was too warm) I had to turn on the room lights to see what time it was. The hotel also has an exercise room with the usual equipment, but it does not open until 6:00 in the morning. This can be kind of annoying if you want to exercise, shower, and eat breakfast before work, because it means that you and everyone else who wants to do the same thing needs to be there right at 6:00, so it is very crowded. It seems to be set away from the guest rooms so I don't really understand why they don't leave it open 24 hours. Of the three hotels I stayed at on this trip it was the most expensive, and while the room was the largest it otherwise offered the least.

Thanks for sharing your experience at our hotel. It is comments such as yours that help us to know of areas that may need improvement. I apologize that you were unable to get the temperature of your room to a comfortable level and that the fitness center was not open when it was most convenient for you. Our security guard is able to open the fitness center for anyone who may need to utilize it outside of the standard hours, but since the pool is in the same area we are unable to leave it open all night for safety reasons. We look forward to having you as our guest again on your next visit to the Raleigh/Durham area.
