“Beautiful, Comfortable and Very Friendly Inn”
Reviewed November 23, 2012

My husband and I stayed there last July. It is a wonderful inn.
I don't even know where to begin-- The Morehead Inn is very convienently located. It is beautifully decorated- not with chinzy, fragile antiques, but with solid, comfy couches and chairs and lots of original artwork. The reading room has a large collection of current magazines. The TV room is the perfect place to wind down at the end of the day. The garden is also a welcoming area to relax. Coffee, cold drinks and snacks are available 24/7. The bedrooms are spacious and thoughtfully laid out- there is plenty of room to put your stuff down. The breakfasts, served in a sunny room, are delicious. And last, but certainly not least, the Innkeepers Monica and Daniel Edwards are very welcoming, informative and friendly. They are really neat people that made our stay at the Morehead Inn an absolute pleasure.

My wife and I had tickets to a concert at DPAC and wanted to stay within walking distance. We were pleasantly surprised to find Morehead Manor, an inviting 100+ year old stately home with tons of charm and room to relax and reflect. The Manor is beautiful and tastefully decorated. The bedrooms are quite spacious, beds were very comfortable and we slept great. The breakfasts were delicious and unique and more importantly, great coffee! Last but not least, Daniel and Monica were fantastic hosts. They made us feel like part of their family and I look forward to seeing them again, you could not ask for two more gracious hosts. We do hope they visit us if they can ever get away.

We spent three nights in Morehead Manor this month and enjoyed it very much. The hosts Monica and Greta made it a very pleasant and satisfying stay and we would recommend it. They took great pride in the quality of the breakfast and their dedication to customer satisfaction.

We by far will not stay anywhere else when we visit Durham for fun weekend getaways. We found the B&B very easily with our GPS. Parking was not a problem at all, in fact it was off the street in their own private drive. The home is located in a very quaint and quite neighborhood within minutes from all of the downtown shopping and restaurants. We were drawn to it because they offered a military discount which we found very hospitable. The Inn grounds were adorable and very well kept. Once we were greeted at the front door by Daniel and Monica we knew we had made the right choice. They were so warm, welcoming and friendly. They took our bags and showed us all around the Inn. Lucky for us in the 4 bedroom Inn we were the only guests that evening so we felt like we had the entire Mansion to ourselves! Very romantic! We were told many of the places to go to for shopping and eating and there was an extensive handbook full of material in our room. Our room was gorgeous! We stayed in the Magnolia Room. Huge 4 poster bed. Romantic sitting area in front of a fireplace as well as a separate sitting library area off of the bedroom. The bathroom had a gorgeous chandelier hanging in it and everything was VERY clean. We loved that we were able to have a key and come and go as we pleased. The kitchen had snacks, coffee, teas and was very well stocked for guests. There was plenty of glassware for us to open our celebratory Champagne! We explored the many rooms of the house with plenty of sitting areas, reading areas, and lounging areas. Very well decorated, some of the artwork done by the owner Daniel himself. The owners called a taxi for us to go off for the evening to explore(we could have walked but it was raining) and could not have been nicer! In the evening on our return there were warm homemade cookies placed in our room for us and our fireplace(there is a no heat option which we used in Sept) just for ambiance had been turned on. IN the morning we woke to the smell of homemade waffles and sausage with an assortment of juices and drinks. We were served by the owner Monica herself and she was able to sit and talk with us. She has so many good stories and lots of experience in the business. We had such a wonderful time with her. We will without a doubt be back and as stated this will be our go to place when going to Durham. We will recommend and have recommended it to all of our friends. Thank you again for such an amazing stay!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Magnolia room..very open and spacious!

I stayed at Morehead Manor this past weekend for a graduation and it was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast and it couldn't have been a better experience! The innkeepers, Monica and Daniel, were friendly and gracious hosts and I felt like I was staying at the house of relatives rather than an established business. The manor is gorgeous and very well kept and the homemade breakfast in the morning was delicious and a real treat. I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a charming place to stay in Durham with friendly faces, beautiful decor and magnificent food!

Room Tip: I stayed in the Eagle's Inn Room with 1 other person, but it could've easily slept four peop...

My son and I stayed 3 nights on a recent college visit. I was surprised at how large and comfortable the room was--much bigger than most B&B's we have stayed in. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting the owners and hearing about their journey to this B&B, as well as their insights and recommendations about Durham. The breakfasts were delicious and served in a lovely sunny dining room. Also, Monica was more than happy to accomodate our timing preferences. I loved the decor and the yard as well. Great stay, will be back when we visit my son in college.

My daughter and I stumbled upon the Morehead as we arrived, confused and disoriented after a week of college search travels, and immediately fell in love with the wonderful proprietor, Monica, and her beautiful place. Just a few blocks from the American Durham restaurants Monica recommended. The next day, when I was desperate to get my hair done, but in a schedule squeeze, Monica not only helped me get the appointment, she personally drove me to the salon! Our room was lovely, the homeade cookies delicious, and every morning the breakfast was not only hearty, it always came with a great conversation. Monica has a knack for engaging guests and facilitating dialogue, all of which make travel so much more rewarding.
