Owner description: Located on Duke University's West Campus, Duke Chapel is as magnificent in structure as it is rich in ministry. Construction of the Chapel was begun in October of 1930 and completed two years later. During that time students continually congregated at the stonemasons' huts to watch the Chapel take shape. It was first used for Commencement in 1932 and was formally dedicated on June 2, 1935.Duke Chapel continues to be a Christian church of uniquely interdenominational character and purpose. Through its tradition of inspiring worship and music, and a calling to walk with people of all faiths and circumstances, Duke Chapel acts a beacon of grace on campus and in the community. All are welcome to take part in worship, learning, dialogue, and service.

This well known tourist attraction did exceed my expectations, though we went on a cold, and rainy day during the Christmas season. The stained glass windows are lovely and delightful. It was not crowded when we went, and a man was cleaning the floors. They do not allow visitors to go in certain areas, but there must be reasons for this. The university grounds are also lovely and the stone gothic style architecture is noteworthy.

What an incredible place, inside and out. I spent the day with my son walking around the campus for a basketball game that night at Cameron Indoor. The entire Duke campus is beautiful, but the Chapel is the anchor. If you can work your schedule to attend a service, it is a great experience. The organ, the lighting, the leaded glass windows, the choir, the history, just a great experience. Must see and hear.

Beautiful place to visit. I think it's a must see if in the area. The campus and history of the area is felt when walking through this beautiful place.

I've attended several events at the chapel, but most recently I went to the Duke Chorale Christmas Concert. While listening to the beautiful acoustics and looking around at the awesome architecture, I was reminded how lucky we are to have such a place in the Triangle.

Looks and feels as though you are in a European cathedral! Beautiful, massive, impressive chapel with services of many denominations offered. Right in the heart of Duke campus.
