The previous reviews for El Corral were so positive that I was surprised by how much I did not like the food. My husband had a chicken burrito fajita and really liked it (it was quite large). My son had the chicken fajitas and thought they were comparable to fajitas at any other Mexican place but he did have ask for shredded cheese (extra cost). My other son got the grilled chicken nachos. He thought the chicken was good on its own but not as part of the nachos. I ordered the grilled steak quesadillas. The steak itself was fine but the quesadillas had "cheese dip" on the top. I had asked about this when ordering and thought it would simply be a melted version of a shredded, white queso. It made for both an unpleasant taste and texture. I scraped the dip off the top but the quesadilla still didn't taste great with the taste/texture of the cheese inside--I'm not sure if it was the same. I ate some of the steak on its own and raided my son's rice and retries that came with the fajitas. It was all very big portions and nothing was outstanding. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the guacamole is the smooth, creamy type. It certainly is nowhere near the best Mexican in Durham and I don't ever see returning.
