“funky and fun and good”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

The first thing you will notice when you walk through the doors is the beautiful old hardwood floors. Then as you look around you will feel like you just walked into an old general store. You can buy made-there-fresh-daily foods by the pound or a little of several things and eat in. None of the tables and chairs match and that adds to the charm. It fills up fast though during peak hours. I love the homemade pimento cheese sandwich with tomatoes. They also have some of the best scones (my favorite is the chocolate chocolate-chip). They also offer patio seating and lawn seating if they are full inside.

“Not incredibly impressed”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

After hearing so many good things about this place, I think it had just been over-hyped. I got a grilled cheese and wasn't really thrilled about it. It was kind of soggy and not especially impressive. Maybe I need to give Foster's another shot.

“Love this cozy place!”
Reviewed March 1, 2014

Foster's is one of my favorite places to eat in Durham, and that is saying a lot for this foodie capital. Love the old timey general food store atmosphere coupled with fantastic food and mix and match comfy tables and chairs placed in various nooks and crannies. Also love the Adirondack chairs outside although it overlooks a 4 lane highway. The grilled cheese with pepper jelly sandwich was great as was the french toast made with banana bread. All baked goods looked incredible. I can't wait to go back and try herb biscuits, sticky buns and mile high cakes (yes, an all carbs meal would be divine).

“Not fancy, but easy to enjoy”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

Foster's market serves casual food in a very, very informal setting. Nothing fancy, but the food is almost always good (sandwiches, casseroles, salads). We go when we need a quick meal. It feels like eating at home without the work.

“love this place”

Foster's is a fantastic place to take our kids to lunch on the weekend. Great sandwiches, salads, coffee, desserts, and an amazing assortment of exotic candies to choose from. Love sitting outside on the covered lower deck.
