My husband and I enjoyed lunch at The Q Shack in Durham last week while visiting relatives in the area. Our mouths started watering the minute we walked in. Absolutely incredible smells!
The facilities are rustic, and the atmosphere is definitely casual, even shabby, but the food is outstanding. Big portions. Reasonable prices.
My husband -- who is very health-conscious -- ordered the smoked turkey. I had the famous beef brisket. VERY good. However, I think my very favorite thing I ate was their fried okra. I'm something of an okra connoisseur, and this gets a #1 rating in my book. An added bonus was the fact that their sweet tea was sweet -- always important in my book.
Don't dress up but DO go and enjoy an outstanding meal here the next time you're in the neighborhood.
