“Step Back in Time”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

Everything about this place was great - from the drinks to the music to the decor to the bartender. It felt like we went back in time and like we were at an old speakeasy.(with a modern twist of course). Great for before-dinner drinks.

“Very cosmopolitan feel”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

From inside, you wouldn't know you were in downtown Durham. The decor is posh, the drinks are fancy, and the bartenders wear ties. This could be New York, Chicago, Atlanta or any big city. However, the clientele is diverse and you wouldn't feel out of place in jeans. They offer specialty cocktails instead of chain-restaurant drinks and the two we sampled were very good. Apparently, they create their own bitters and soda as well. Prices aren't cheap, but it's nice to have a variety of drinking options in downtown Durham.

“Cool Atmosphere!”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

Alley Twenty Six is a very nice lounge that has a great atmosphere especially for after work. The bartenders are mixologists that can create an drink that matches your mood or desires. Do you want a drink to make you feel you are at the beach just ask. Feeling like a doughnut ask for a Krispy Kreme drink. They have a monthly menu that features fine Gins. They also feature a drink that highlights sorbet from a local icecream palor called the "Palor Trick". I usually order this each month. Our favorite spot is on the couch at the window but on a nice day it is fun to sit in the alley.

The bartenders can be fun to watch and they are also nice. They also have a few snack items that are made by the staff or from local restaurants but is is a very small offering so eat before hand. It is not a cheap bar but a nice place to have a drink with co-workers, friends or with out of town guest....no there are not TVs. I think on Mondays they have a local band. I do think the quality of the drinks depend on on who is the bartender that evening. We have had some really good bartenders most times. Great for business drinks or with friends.

There is a parking garage next to the building of the lounge but there is also parking on the street in front of the lounge or on one of the side streets. It is across from the downtown post office.
