“Very Good”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Wood fired pizza was terrific with unique choices. Service was ok but the place was very busy as it is popular. Beer was cold and lots of local choices on tap. Would go back anytime.

“Really excellent pizza”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

This new pizza place in five points in Durham is really amazing. We've had several great experiences here and have never been disappointed. They don't take reservations, so get there early or be prepared to wait (they have a nice bar area). The potato pizza and kale salad shouldn't be missed.

“Fun and delicious”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

Very busy. Be prepared to wait a little on weekends; no reservations. We sat close to the oven, enjoyed the warmth and loved the show. Be brave, the pizzas are not your ordinary mix of ingredients. We ate things we'd never even heard of before (like fiddleheads and ramps.) Yum! What fun!!

“Pizzeria Toro in Durham, NC”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

This place is amazing! I went here today with my husband for a Saturday afternoon lunch date. We ordered the roasted beets antipasti that came with caramelized anchovy and pistachios. I detest anchovies so when he suggested it I was skeptical about it. After eating the dish, I became a believer. Fantastic! Then we ordered the fried eggplant, garlic, and ricotta pizza off of the red menu (there's a red and white menu). Hands down the best pizza I've ever had...EVER! Definitely gourmet and not a place to take children or adults with picky eating habits or a diet of papa john's pizza. They will probably hate it, but everyone else will love it. The cannoli desert was good, too.

“Best pizza on the planet”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

We've been back three times now, and this is literally the only pizza on the planet that I've ever wanted more than two slices of! We prefer the white pies, but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu - they're all delicious. If they have they meyer lemon one, go for that - it's so unique, with the saltiness of the crust, the tart of the lemon, and awesome cheese. The tallegio, red onion and pistachio is likewise incredible. Good beer and wine list, and I appreciate them having a hard cider as well. It's also such fun to watch them moving the pizzas around the wood fired oven while you're sitting in the dining room. Well worth the wait. Will be back again soon!
