A good spot for a meal pre-show at DPAC. Food is good, not great, but drinks are fantastic and the service is first-rate. Varied menu makes it a good spot for a big party.

I'm not sure why everyone is giving this place great reviews. I've eaten here three times and the food is not good. If you are looking for an overcooked piece of meat or fish, this is your place. While I admit that the atmosphere is quite pleasant, the food is marginal at best. With drink in hand, the outside patio is an oasis after a long day, however the food leaves much to be desired. Like a slime mold clinging to the surface of a pond, the salsa will coat your tongue leaving your palate with an artificial sour flavor that is not easily diminished. Fortunately, with good drink you will eventually be able to dissolve the unpleasantness. The rice is fluffy and quite tasty, but every main course seems to have been killed twice. Chicken should be moist and tuna should not resemble the color of a cigar that should have been ashed several minutes ago. Beef seems to be the best option, but I strongly suggest that if you are looking for above average grub please go elsewhere.

Good restaurant in downtown Durham. Great nachos and margaritas. Monday is $5 margaritas. Tried the spinach salad (fine) and the vege chile relleno (small serving but good - could use more seasoning).

If you are lookin for haute cuisine Mexican/South American food or something cutting edge in these cuisines look elsewhere. Otherwise if you want an enjoyable dining experience, fairly priced, and professionally served, do go here. My wife and I were warned about the traffic congestion caused by the concurrence of a Bulls game with a DPAC show. So we were looking for a place within walking distance of DPAC and with some trepidation - considering some of the (unwarranted) critical barbs of others - decided to give this place a try last evening. All I can say is that everything was good. Not to die for, not in the absolutelythebestthingIhaveeaten class, but damn good Latino comfort food. Everything we had - the guacamole, calamari, squash soup, pork tenderloin, and dessert was satisfying - no, more than satisfying: faultless. Service was excellent. What more can you say?

Though we didn't have high expections - after walking across the railroad tracks to an unimpressive yellow establishment interpreted "two dogs," we ended up being pleasantly surprised.
Seated quickly and served promptly, we had plenty of time to enjoy our meal before attending an event at DPAC. Ben, our waiter, was excellent and patient in helping me select items from the menu that were friendly to my gluten allergy. The ambiance was clean and pleasant - an added bonus was that the restaurant had good ventilation meaning that we did not carry the smell of dinner on our clothing when we left. Try their sangria - it's delicious.
