The entire inn was booked for our niece's wedding guests and family. It was an incredibly beautiful, historic inn and was maintained impeccably. Providing bathrobes and slippers added to the convenience of early morning "family" time and included delicious breakfast foods.
I would encourage any traveller to stay at this wonderful inn!

Room Tip: All of the rooms were especially beautiful…we stayed in the "Moss Room". Superb!

We had the privilege of staying one night as wedding guests. This Inn is first class all the way. No detail was left uncovered. From check-in to check-out, you receive first class treatment. Our room was located on the 2nd floor, and had a flat screen TV and iPad. Snacks and soft drinks were located in the lobby, and at night there is turn down service with chocolate and wine. Breakfast in the morning was freshly prepared and delicious.

Couple of notes...
- When we stayed, it was a hot summer day (upper 90s), and the A/C didn't seem to work all that well. It was on the warm side, even with the A/C on full power. Not a significant problem, but something to be aware
- There is a small parking lot in the back. It can get full, but there is ample street parking around the inn.

Room Tip: Each room is unique

I've stayed at quite a few B&Bs and this is one of the best. The room was quiet and comfortable and the bathroom clean and modern. Amazing shower! I wouldn't hesitate to come back again. For the business traveller, there is a nice desk and free Wifi.

If you are going to Durham, North Carolina for any reason then I highly recommend seeking out this bed and breakfast near Duke University for your stay. You will love it. The room decor and comfort is top-notch. Honestly, every room is gorgeous. It's truly a sophisticated secret in the heart of the action in Durham.

The owners did a fabulous job renovating this fading property. It is a green hotel, and for a historic property, it has the best water pressure in a hotel that I've seen in a long time, and plenty of hot water.

Every room is equipped with an iPad which is a great touch. We stayed in a queen room, and it was a very charming, and comfortable room. In the future though, I would go for a king bed to have more bed space, but I enjoyed the location of my room. The beds are comfortable, and the bedding is nice. There is one touch in the bathroom that I adored. They have "black make-up" towels. Awesome idea. Every hotel should have them. The bathroom was mid-sized, but great counter space, and modern.

On the weekends, breakfast is served until 10 am which is very nice. You do not feel as rushed in the morning. Breakfast was an absolute gem in this hotel. I was quite impressed. No one will go hungry in the morning because there is something for everyone. Delicious food. You have continental type selections, and then made to order selections.

The innkeeper, Deanna, is a delight.

Check-in was informal, and a little confusing, but an employee was just learning the ropes so I'm just blaming all of that on inexperience. The inn does have a very informal afternoon tea where you can partake on the terrace or in the parlor. This was confusing for us because it's not structured, and the employee was new, and he just wasn't experienced at handling the tea service. We may have misunderstood and thought he would bring tea to the room, but after awhile, that didn't happen so we ventured downstairs, and asked for tea again, truly not knowing what to do. I truly believe this is an isolated event, and it did not dampen our experience at all, but it was not the best first impression on check-in, and I could see how if this happened to others then some marks would be taken off for service. The new employee was a delight though, and very friendly. He was also new to the area and I think this was his first time solo. Since he was not experienced at tea service, I'm not sure if our tea was an accurate representation on what is generally served, which was tea, and some type of hard biscuit-type cracker. The tea does not match the quality of breakfast, at least on this occasion. But, I might add that the inn has wonderful scones in the morning!

However, the rest of the stay was absolutely fabulous which is why I rate this property an excellent.

Children are welcome here, but I see this is as more of a couple hotel or perfect for business while in the area.

I would definitely stay here again.

The privilege was mine to plan an intimate destination wedding weekend at this beautiful location during the month of July, 2012. Located just behind Duke University's east campus, it provided a serene, peaceful backdrop for a journey of love that convened in Philadelphia, PA on July 20, climaxed with a beautiful wedding ceremony on July 21 and concluded on July 22 with a bon voyage worship experience that sent the bride & groom off to the tropics for a week of sun, fun, rest & relaxation.

From a planner's perspective, destination celebrations are always a leap of faith as you are usually unfamiliar with the local culture of the chosen venue. The inability to physically put your hands where you think they need to be leads to levels of anxiety & frustration beyond belief. KDI helps to calm those fears via their events coordinator, Samantha Kozub. I liken my initial contact with her as equivalent to that of a breath of fresh air. She was engaging & extremely knowledgeable of the local culture. Further, she provided great recommendations to local vendors (florist, party rentals, bakery, etc.). Each contact with her left me feeling more & more confident that the task at hand would be carried out without incident. Making her acquaintance was indeed a sheer delight.

Upon arrival at the KDI on July 20, we were greeted by Deanne (one of the owners) who immediately began the check-in process. I might add that she was enduring some physical disability at the time; however, it did not impede her exhibiting southern hospitality at its best. As the weekend progressed, she became my go to individual for any & all concerns. Her charming smile, accommodating personality & friendly disposition made it easy for me to talk to her. Other points of interest that are etched in the confines of my memory include the unique interior decor (do bring your camera), the hot made-to-order breakfast, the inviting front porch, the grand staircase and last but not least, the warm atmosphere that was experienced by all.

If you're looking for an intimate wedding venue or just an escape from the pressures of life, consider KDI. You're sure to depart from this place very well pleased, with a renewed spirit.

What a great place. A very friendly welcome set the scene and our room was wonderfully decorated and so comfortable. The addition of an iPad in the room was a great touch - it really helped us with planning our time and our dirving routes. Have to give special mention to the home-cooked breakfast. It was our first proper experience of Southern cooking, and boy, was it good!

Room Tip: The Trinity Suite has a separate sun room. Highly recommended if it's available!

I've stayed at The King's Daughter's Inn several times over the past few years and just booked a night this month. Located on a quiet corner of Duke's East Campus, walking distance to Amtrak station and many great dining options. The KD is a former residence for the widow's of Durham's elite and was grandly restored by Deanne and Colin, the owners. Every guest room is appointed with the most amazing furnishings and fabrics, all new but not cookie cutter....wonderful amenities, top tech Mac tv's, and of course a delicious breakfast in the elegant sea foam green dining room. It's a perfect place for a small wedding party or event.

Room Tip: There is not a bad room in the place. I prefer to stay in the older part of the Inn and there is a...
