“Best burger in Durham, and everything else is good too”
Reviewed February 27, 2014 via mobile

This place is a hidden gem on 9th street. Great burgers, great comfort food, a huge assortment of beer - what's not to like? Inside it's small but nice, and there's usually soccer on the tv.

“true comfort food”
Reviewed November 17, 2013

if you're in the mood for something that's not on your diet plus a really good beer, there's not a better destination in Durham that Dain's. Burgers are seasoned just right, fries or tots are delicious (if you've got three or more get a basket to share rather than paying the upgrade to fries: it's a big basket). My personal fave has become the (really huge & tasty) chili dog, which I get to save a couple bucks and pretend that I'm not eating quite as much (I am). Great attention to detail (wide variety of good condiments, great brew selection, etc.); Dain hisself is there most of the time and he seems like a good guy. What's not to like?!

“Loved It!!”

Truly great hole in the wall restaurant. Personal fave! I had "The Defibrillator" burger and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Super delicious, definitely messy! Take that Man vs Food!!

“Beer and Burgers in Downtown Durham”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

We stopped here with friends for an evening of good local beer and to try their food. A Google search seemed to rate them fairly well as far as the best local cheese steak went, and since this is one of my favorite sandwiches we decided to give it a try. They have a great selection of local and craft beer and an impressive menu. Unfortunately, the cheese steak was not that great but that may have been because we got the recommended melted cheddar sauce as the topping and it (to me anyhow) is not the right kind of cheese for this kind of sandwich or at least not for me, a self-proclaimed cheese steak snob. The fries were really good and had a Cajun seasoning on them which always a good flavor to dress up bland fries with.

Since I liked the atmosphere and the beer selection I give it four stars and am looking forward to trying their other food, especially the Defibrillator Burger which sounds fantastic.
