For 42 years I have wondered in and out of businesses on 9th Street as a resident and as a visitor. Some places never change, some are new. But the Regulator, Elmo's, Blue Corn, and more draw me back time and again.

Ninth Street in Durham was, at one time, their Hippie district. It still has some off-beat stores and establishments that are not found in malls or most open shopping center. Can be interesting but not unique.

This place has almost everything: neighborhood bar, ten kinds of dining (Vietnamese and gelato specialties are excellent), Whole Foods around the corner, top bookstore (Regulator Bookshop), clothes (Vaguely Reminiscent) and an old fashioned Laundromat.
New shops going up bigtime on the west side of the street. Decent parking, also on local bus line Route 11 and Bull City Connector *free* from downtown and govt buildings past 9th St. to Duke University West Campus. Also check out Mad Hatter's good food 2 blocks east, next to the Connector stop

Ninth Street is a great little place to just wander through on a balmy evening. Lots of cute little eclectic places to check out!

Nine Street is home to World Market, a book store and some of the best restaurants in town. There are times when parking is a little hard to find especially during dinner time when school is open.
