Nine Street is home to World Market, a book store and some of the best restaurants in town. There are times when parking is a little hard to find especially during dinner time when school is open.

So many unique little restaurants and shops. A good place to visit during the day for a relaxing stroll and lunch or just a cup of coffee. I wouldn't recommend it in the evenings though. Sometimes it seems like the whole student population is there.

Park your car (legally, of course) and take a stroll down Ninth Street. Stop by Francesca's for a slice of cake and coffee. Buy a novel (one of mine if you can) at The Regulator Book Shop. Whimsical stores to browse in line the street. A fun place to spend an afternoon!

Ninth street is a great in many ways, mostly because of all of the variety of small local buisnesses, from basic to upscale, and the variety of people from students to those who work and of many ages.

There are a few chains but, to its benefit, not many. (There is a Subway and Papa Johns). There are restaurants like Bahns Vietnamese, has little in the way of decor, but people line up out the door on Saturdays to get their Saturday specials.

If you want a good basic meal for $4-$8's, there are a numerous places you can go, including Bahns, Chubby's Tacos, Devils pizzeria, International Delights, Cosmic Cantina, etc. . . .

They also have small independent toy store, 2-3 bars, a family style eating place (Elmo's), a place with the Frogs in front which has items from around the world, a local ice cream place (Francescas), a flower shop, a great place to mail stuff (A-1), and a garden/pet shop (Barnes Supply), just to name a few. There are also some very nice upscale restuarants most of which I have not been to, but I have heard good things about.

If you must have everything neat and polished and safe, (places like South Point Mall), then Ninth street may not be your kind of place. But if you like local flavor, Ninth Street is a great.

Only a couple blocks long consider part of "the strip" but packy a punch with some ethnic food, some local coffee and good local pastries, good diner, some books and gifts, and even a biker bar .... what's not to like?
