This place was musty, dingy, and smelled of feces! This gets the prize for being the worst place I have ever stayed. I got out the extra linens meant for the sofa bed and spread them out on the sofa so that I wanted have to sit on the dirty sofa. I bought Febrez to try and rid the unit of the feces smell. What a dump!
If I have to say anything good, the desk staff was marvelous!

had a great week in Duck at Barrier Island Station..just steps to a LIFEGUARDED beach, very nice outdoor pool with gated kidde pool, very nice indoor pool, small workout center, game room with ping pong and other games. Friendly and helpful staff, easy check in and out, various activites throughout the week, new tennis courts and grills
Duck NC is a great location, so much to do, we enjoy going to the 4wd beach where you can see the wild horses..lots of other attractions, great dining and shopping, good place to ride a bike, walk or jog
We enjoyed the very wide sandy beach, never crowded, lots of great walks on the beach
Enjoyed the resort, free wi-fi, planning on returing next year

We just returned from Duck on Sat. We were in unit 315 and were very pleased. We had a few maintainance requests which were handled quickly. The staff was very pleasant. Our grandchildren loved both the indoor and outdoor pool. While the units are older they provide a spacious place at the beach. Our view was wonderful of both the ocean and the sound. We were so pleased we are thinking of buying a resale in the Fall.

Room Tip: Lots of steps on most units.

The location of these units is wonderful. We stayed in the 200's. the unit was very damp & smelled of mold. Furniture & decor outdated. The pool was great & proximity to the beach is wonderful. Traffic to get here (just the last 12 miles) took 3 hours on a Saturday! Snack bar was a great addition.

Spent a week in the 400 building. Yes it's old, and needs a little work, but the unit was very clean, had great furniture and appliances, and the best view I could ever ask for. The staff is outstanding and you CAN NOT BEAT THIS LOCATION! Amenities were awesome as well. Two pools (we were between them) one indoor, one outdoor and only about 400' to the beach with a snack bar at the top of the dunes. On Wednesday the staff had a cookout and served hamburgers and hotdogs with potato salad and beans with lemonade for $4. Spent the day at the beach, had lunch and went right back to the beach all within 150' of the waves. We will gladly go back again. Big hit with the kids and grandson. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Choose a unit on top, 3rd/4th floor. Lots of stairs, but worth the climb.

I just returned from a trip to Barrier Island Station less than 12 hours ago...I just had to share what a wonderful time we had. I had read the other reviews and had some concerns but decided to give it a shot-and I am hooked! I will ALWAYS pick OBX as my ideal vacation destination and will certainly return to the Barrier Island Resort. I had a 1 bedroom, first floor unit that was in the perfect location-close to the pool and beach access. I could walk most anywhere I needed to go and the relaxed atmosphere was ideal. My room was well equipped and seemed to have been painted recently. (We were in the 800s BTW in case you are planning to go). the management accommodated our needs for a first floor room due to a senior coming (who could not do the stairs)-it was just the perfect trip. Thanks Barrier Island Station...until next year!!!

Room Tip: rooms in the 800 building are located close to the outdoor pool and beach access. some others buildi...

We come here every year because this is our family's timeshare and we love the location. However, it still looks like it did when we bought it 30 years ago. Out dated and moldy. They swear to me every year that they are going to remodel our unit. It has yet to happen. The storms and hurricane do damage to our unit so they replaced our tv last year but the stand had to be replaced again so they just used the buffet from the dining room. Housekeeping did NOT do their job. The kitchen floor was filthy and sticky. There were two used bars of soap on the floor! Outdoor pool is still in good shape. Love the new deck and tables around the baby pool. Tennis courts and shuffle board courts are still looking good. Indoor pool area is still ok. The outdoor decking and tables/chairs have been updated. Hopefully other units look better than ours. If they don't, hope you are up on your tetanus shots.
