Decided to revisit Duck Deli during our stay, of course, in Duck on 8/5. We arrived at around 7 pm and the place was busy x3. Lot's of carryout orders, a big family enjoying the food and us. We waiting six minutes to be even acknowledged. That's sort of a big deal. The kitchen was bustlin' and there were just two servers... Kind of explains matters. Another family walked in to be seated and alas we were seated after a table with lots of leftovers and a bill with a very low tip was exposed on that table...honestly, I wondered if we had made the right move stopping here. We were seated there after it was cleaned up. We were seated by our server who had an accent. Not sure if he was British, Australian of South African but he was a good guy anxious to please. We placed our orders. I had the pulled pork; my wife and daughter each had a half chicken and our son had the crab cake sandwich. Everything arrived as ordered. Hush Puppies were "meh" but the main courses were good. The gals devoured great chicken and their sides (Fries for both along with cole slaw for my daughter and artichoke salad for my bride.) Both gave a thumbs up. My pulled pork platter had a side of baked beans which were acceptable and onion rings. The main event was good. It is Carolina BBQ which is very tame. I added the BBQ sauce for flavor and was pleased with the food. My sons crabcake sandwich received high marks (wait til he tries jumbo lump at home; his perspective will be changed forever). He enjoyed it and that matters most. We left full and happy. Service was GREAT overall. They do need another team member to at least handle the counter carryout rush so the tables could be managed correctly. We shall return.
