We were a party of nine coming in after 1pm for lunch. We had a nice attentive server. GORGEOUS inlet views! However after we ordered it took 45 minutes to receive our food. A group that came in after us finished before us. And it wasn't packed at the time. We mostly ordered salads and fish tacos so not sure why it took so long. The food was very very good, however. And we were patient but that was why I rated four instead of five out of five stars.

Our party of 7 chose Aqua based on its claim to have amazing crab cakes on the Outer Banks. We were staying in Duck so it was also convenient. I knew going in that it was an expensive restaurant which was fine with us. We made a reservation and were seated at a lovely table that overlooked the sound. So far so good. Our waiter, who was obviously a newbie, was polite but a bit nervous. Upon sitting down we asked him if their crab cakes were as good as they claimed and he told us "the best on the island." Great! We got menus -ordered some wine. Picked out a hot crab dip which was good. Their entrees on the menu were very limited -- once again touting their famous crab cakes and they had a few specials, one being soft-shell crab which none of us like. When it came time to order we of course order crab cakes....BUT he tells us that they are out of crab cakes tonight! What??????? Didn't we just ask a million questions about their crab cakes? He did not tell us that they were out of them this evening. We were stunned. He pushed the soft-shell crab on us instead. We were not buying. So after reviewing the menu none of us really wanted to spend $40 - $50 on an entree we didn't want to eat. My daughter is a server at an upscale steak house in Indy, she explained to him our situation and told him we would not be ordering dinner and that we would just take the check. He was really pissed even though she explained to him that we would be tipping him generously as we knew it was not his fault the kitchen was out of crab cakes. Our bill was over $100.00 for wine and apps....we tipped him 20 percent. He grabbed the bill and left our table without really even apologizing. Went to Corolla where we had dinner at one of our favorite spots. Won't be trying Aqua again when staying in Duck.

I arrived after a long day in the sun and was greeted by a friendly face that gave me what a needed, a fun drink and an awesome appetizer. (Duck soup and banging shrimp)

I had a great dinner ... and with the live music and an awesome view of the sunset, my wife and I had a special moment.

The waitstaff was welcoming... Our waiter (jr) knew the menu, was very friendly, he made the experience about me and my friends... A great time at OBX because of AQUA!!!

Loved everything about the place. Shared a few appetizers and they were all awesome. Drank the Duck Soup beverage and had to order another it was so good. My entree was the pasta with shrimp and andouille sausage - much flavor and just the right amount of spice. Our waiter, JR, was personable and knowledgeable. Get there people!!!

A great dinner meal in June 2014. Eat inside or outside. Wonderfully fresh softshell crabs and a very nice entree of shrimp and andoullie pasta. Nice wine list as well. And a lovely NASA scientist server (really).
