Owner description: Founded in 1999 by Brothers Charlie and Ed Shelton, Shelton Vineyards was envisioned as a new agricultural resource for an area once dependent on tobacco farming. Located in the heart of North Carolina's Yadkin Valley, Shelton Vineyards is 180 degrees from any winery you will find on the West Coast. The distinctive characteristics of Shelton wine come from the unique soil and climate of the Yadkin Valley. This helps give Shelton wine an inimitable taste that holds its own against any wine from any area in the world. We invite you to visit us, try our wine and see if you agree that our wine is as unique as the area we are in.

Our first stop was the restaurant. Make sure you stop there first if you are hungry. The wine tasting was nice as were the yummy unique chocolate truffles that we had to purchase. The grounds were so beautiful that we actually stayed an hour longer than we had intended. There are benches to set and enjoy the setting which includes a creek.

Our management team visited this winery and had an excellent time. The grounds are simply beautiful and well maintained. You will feel like your at a California winery with the rolling hils around the buildings. The winery tour was quite interesting and the tour guide very knowledgable. Our wine tasting session was very good, with numerous varieties of flavors to sample. We bought several bottles to take home. Dinner in the resturant was outstanding, the service was spot on and our drinks were never empty before they refilled them. If you haven't visited this winery along I-77 your missing an excellent attraction.

To learn that this vineyard appeared in 1999 and is what it is today blows my mind. The size of this operation would lead you to believe that it has been around for generations. There is certainly some major money behind this endeavor! It is an enormous operation to have reached this size in just 14 yrs. plus they operate the nearby Hampton Inn and accompanying gas station/convenience store. They offer many different wine choices as we did a tasting. I enjoyed the Reisling the best. Their gift shop is large and very nice. The vineyard property is beautiful. It was lovely to walk around the lake and have our grandchild feed the fish. A very pleasant stop along our vacation route.

Toured the facility that ended with a wine tasting at their wine bar located in the front of the winery. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The grounds are beautiful. This would be a great place to spend an afternoon relaxing, there are picnic tables, patio tables and rocking chairs to relax in. Staff was very friendly.

Had a delightful, leisurely, Sunday lunch at the restaurant with friends from a former neighborhood. We adjourned to the tasting room and enjoyed the sampling of wines. The wine pourer was very knowledgeable and friendly. A nice variety of wines, and we left with four different ones in our care.
