When you are roaming around the beautiful, little town of Dillsboro, NC, be sure to stop in at this unusual deli (located in the basement and original well house of the Dill home). The deli is located under several nice studios and local craft shops, and serves up some delicious food. Most luncheon items are sandwiches or salad plates. The food is fresh and portions are plentiful. We had the Cashew Chicken Salad--on lettuce and in a sandwich. Tasty, not your typical chicken salad, and obviously a local favorite. You order at the counter, the food is brought to your table, and you clean up your own mess. The deli was filled when we arrived but we didn't have to wait long after we ordered. No one was rushed to leave and everyone seemed to really be enjoying their lunch choices. They do serve dinner two nights a week (I believe Thursday and Friday) with their Prime Rib being the specialty. The atmosphere is cool and very pleasant on a hot day and the flower gardens around the building are very colorful and enjoyable. Also, be sure to walk over to the old well located in the corner of the deli and look down into the still working old well.
