Had a great time it was my first time Visiting there and kayaking but it won't be the last time Is for beginners like me I found it relaxing and soothing to hear the nature around you and listen to the water

We had a great day kayaking on the Dan River thanks to Dan River Company. They made it very easy and enjoyable with nice equipment, a convenient shuttle, great location, and excellent guidance on what to expect on the 6-mile float down the river. The price was reasonable, and we will do this trip again. I highly recommend experiencing this beautiful section of river through DRC.

We rented kayaks for a family outing and service was great. Quick check-in and departure for the river where they set everyone up with kayaks and life vests. The river was more shallow than we expected. The small rapids were fun and easy for the children to navigate. There are quite a few shallow spots where you easily get stuck and several of us also got stuck on top of rocks. Overall, the shallow water was more difficult to navigate than we expected. We had trouble identifying landmarks to know how far we were when children got tired but the take-out spot was easy to identify. Overall, great service from the company but important to go when water level is high enough.

At the last minute I decided to take my son kayaking over the Labor Day weekend. The DRC had space for us. The equipment was in good condition. The van that took us up river didn't have air conditioning, but that didn't matter as the trip was shorter than expected and the windows were down.
The river was medium-low, so we got stuck a few times. I never had to get out of the boat to push, but my son did.
There were several nice spots to stop, including an overhang that allowed the more adventurous people to jump into the river. It took us 3.5 hours to return to home base. Overall, a very nice and relaxing daycation.

Excellent staff, well organized and knowledgeable about the river. Great scenery and rock over hangs. The water is clean clear and refreshing. The 6.5 mile took about 2 hours. We paddled straight through and did not stop for lunch. Trip took about 2hrs. At the end of the trip you can stop in and have a beer at the Green Heron Ale house which is onsite at your extraction point!
