Like to see this park when there are less leaves on the trees, so as to better appreciate the waterfalls and rock formations. We've been here both in the spring and fall for Saturday picnics and have easily found a table with grill at the large parking area by the visitor center. Great amenities, big bathrooms at the visitor center (the more rustic bathrooms are locked during off seasons so must plan ahead!) and had the lake area to ourselves in the morning. Hiked an 'easy' trail in the afternoon. 'Easy' means difficult hills and stairs for older people, 'Moderate' means only the most fit should attempt. Definitely see the Rock Garden! Loved seeing the Hanging Rock from a distance through the trees, had trouble locating the trailhead.

We stayed in one of the cabins due to rainy weather. They were much nicer than I expected with a kitchen , bathroom, living room and 2 bedrooms. There are several hiking trails and a few nice, but not spectacular waterfalls. None of the hikes are very strenuous or very long. This picture is of the Lower Cascade Falls

We went over 1500 feet up and down within this park. Moore's know has the highest point in the park - about 2 miles from the visitors center and seemingly goes up forever. It was gorgeous however with views in every direction. Hanging Rock is also gorgeous. This trail gets steep the last third/ half of a mile with stairs to the top. The waterfalls are also very cool - with 5 in the park. I definitely recommend Window Falls: if you go off the trail a bit at the observation deck and go through the little "window"/hole in the rock ... you'll find a cute magical waterfall underneath a rock overhang. Very cool! I've been here twice in the winter/spring and it has been amazing every time!

I absolutely love the Hanging Rock trail. You get to the top and have the best views. It can be scary at the top because there is nothing to stop you from falling off. If you get there before the crowds, just sitting up there makes you feel like you're in heaven.
One trail missed by many, because you have to drive to it, is the Lower Cascades Falls. These are much better than the Window Falls and Hidden Falls. The waterfall is more dramatic, and there is a freezing cold pond at the bottom you can cool yourself off in. The hike is not all that difficult. You must be able to go up stairs to do this hike.

We had an awesone day in the mountains. Climbing up and down and all around. Visited the falls coming out of the mountains. Absolutely breathtaking views.
Bea4day with family!
