I love Hanging Rock! It is so peaceful and beautiful. We walked the Indian Creek Trail to Window Falls and Hidden Falls, then we drove around looking for the Lower Cascades. It was a little difficult to find, but SO worth it. This place was amazing- seriously. My pictures don't do it justice at all. The trail is called "moderate," and it was pretty difficult- there were a ton of stairs (granted, we are not regular hikers). But the sights at the bottom were so worth it. This would be a great place to take kids for wading and a picnic, if they could handle the walk. I would recommend taking a lot of breaks on the hike!

Great state park for day hikes with a variety of things to see. Numerous waterfalls and rock formations. Nice visitor center and restrooms, with minimal commercialism. Breathtaking views reward you after a hike up to the fire tower. We plan to camp there in the future!

We did the hanging rock trail and the wolf rock trail (about 4.6 miles total - took us about 3 hours including 2 breaks). The wolf rock was OK but the hanging rock had pretty views. We went in November when there are hardly any people on the trail so spent some quiet moments with mother nature and got some great photos. We have done the waterfalls trails a couple of years ago and as far as I remember they were worth the hike.

Saw some people huffing and puffing on the hanging rock trail. So,if you are not in shape then the moderate trails might seem strenuous since there is some ascending and descending. If you have hiking poles then bring them with you and save yourself from aches and pains :-)

another good state park & free. Excellent visitor center, very helpful ranger; he went over all of the possible trails & made recommendations. We didn't have nearly enough time or stamina. We went to the waterfall trail right at the parking lot. It was down hill all the way & the hike back up was tiring. we also enjoyed the picnic area. Next time we're doing the hanging rock trail.
