This tapas establishment is tucked away in a shopping area on the way to Corolla so its easy to miss. Don't! A must stop. We were seated quickly in this warm and cozy restaurant. They have specials on the board so go for them. As I always say any restaurant w Chimay Belgium Ale on tap is a place worth noting. I had two different Belgiums on tap and they were great. We had cream of asparagus soup w lump crab....amazing. We had the foie gras ...ordered two because it was so damn good. We had duck confit....fantastic. We had lobster tapas....to die for. The quail...succulent. And the beef tenderloin....wow. Ended w two vanilla and chocolate desserts. Perfect. And the service was impeccable. You will regret it for the rest of your life if you don't stop and feast.....

We enjoyed our meal here. Tapas were yummy and the staff very friendly. However, the wine pours were chintzy. For $8 or $9 glasses of nice but fairly pedestrian wine, they should have poured a little more. I don't think our glasses were even a third full. The decor was pleasant and somewhat sophisticated, except for large "First Aid" signs on the glass doors of the fridges at the bar where the vodka was kept. A bit crass, we thought. I rated this restaurant "average" but I wish there were a category between "average and very good."

My husband and I had dinner at Metropolis a couple of weeks ago. We ordered toasted ciabatta with honey truffle butter, potstickers, spinach salad, mushroom soup and the veal. I don't like mushrooms but I tried my husbands soup and it was to die for. My husband doesn't usually eat salad but he tried my spinach salad with goat cheese and loved it. The potstickers were good but could have used more filling. The sauce that came with was really good though. My husband loved his veal too. The server was extremely passionate about the food. He was a little slow with drinks but other than that it was excellent. We will definately be back.

Having dinner at Metropolis is ALWAYS a fabulous experience! We went for my birthday two weeks ago, and, as usual, ordered almost everything off the "specials" board! Mark is a genius -- he manages to put together tastes, textures, and combinations of flavors that are unequalled in this area! If this were a big-city restaurant it would definitely be a premier attraction. Thank you again -- we'll be back SOON!

I cannot believe that on all of my trips to the Northern OBX that this is the first time I have been here. It definitely will not be the last. The food is wonderful and imaginative. The small portions allow you to try more than one thing and the service is very attentive. I loved this place and I will definitely be back!
