“Stopped for one night and stayed for three!”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

We only stopped for a night and were so taken with the views, solitude and location that we stayed for two more nights and wished it were more. Great to be away from the hustle further south yet with all the amenities you need in the area. We would definitely return. We hope all is well after the recent storms. Thanks to our wonderful hosts for the hospitality and great breakfasts!

Room Tip: Definitely go for the rooms overlooking the sound.

With no reservations made, we stopped at Inn at Corolla Light because it was to the far northern end of the Outer Banks and we had a horse tour later in the afternoon so didn't want to be hunting for a room at dinner time. First surprise was the unique layout--I love unique!--up and down wood walkways, stone pool areas and lush courtyard, breakfast with tablecloths. Second was an upgrade to waterside with a fireplace because it was available. Third surprise was a gift for our anniversary--what a great reception! I wasn't sure how we were going to celebrate but now we have a lovely memory for our anniversary thanks to the Inn at Corolla Light. By the way, it is just down the beach from the light and the Whalehead Club and of course the Spanish horses. Oh, and breakfast was delightful--more like a B&B than a motel.

Our experience was very pleasant, we only enjoyed the Inn and the surrounding area for a couple of days, wished we could have spent more time. Breakfast was good, enjoyed the cheese and egg omlett, the room was clean. we were fortunate to have a pretty view. I would highly recommend the Inn and try to visit late summer early fall. Take the wild horse tour also if possible, it was fun. The owners of the Inn and staff were very friendly.

We wish you could have stayed longer too, but we are so glad that you enjoyed your visit. Glad you liked the breakfast, we do try to make our guests feel like they are right at home. Yes, the fall can be the best time here in Corolla. The horse tours are great and not so crowded in the fall. Hope you were able to take advantage of the special discounts on the Horse Tours that leave from the Inn every day! Please come back in the spring and plan to stay longer! Thanks for taking the time to let us know about your stay at the Inn at Corolla Light.

This was the perfect place for our honeymoon. There is so much to do in the area. The Inn was great, offering a beautiful view of the sound. The staff was also great, with the Inn Keeper Dan and his wife seeming like family. We hope to come back soon, as we ran out of time to do everything in the area.

Room Tip: Room 23 is on the first floor, right beside the pool and hot tub. It also is right at the entrance...

My wife and I love to travel to the Outter Banks, NC. We prefer to stay in Duck or Corolla because the area is not as busy as the more southern parts like Nags Head. We found a deal online for the Inn at Corolla Light, but you had to call them directly to get the deal. I called the next day and made the reservation. When we arrived, it was late and the office was closed. They made arrangements (by calling my cell phone) to leave the key and a map to the room in the mailbox. When we got to the room we were happy to say that it looked great and very clean. The sliding door opened to a large shared deck, balcony, overlooking the sound. Very pretty view. Setting on the table, next to Norman the fish,(you have to read the book in the room, written by past guest, to understand) was a well chilled bottle of champagne.
Our room, room 43, had a large jacuzzi tub, although we did not take advantage of it. The first morning we went to the continental breakfast, but it was not like the Holiday Inn. It had real food including fresh cooked NC pork sausage, boiled eggs, all kinds of cereals and yogurts. We were delighted to enjoy some freshly made bread pudding that Betsy just took out of the oven, yum yum.
We enjoyed the whole time we were there, Betsy and Dan are wonderful people and run an outstanding Inn. You will not be disappointed.
I will only caution that if you travel out-of-season, remember that not all restaurants are open, we did find North Banks Seafood (recommended by Dan) it was very good too.

Room Tip: all rooms are different, I can only say room 43 is an excellent choice if you only need 1 king bed...

For a romantic, easy, fun, loving place to connect or RE-Connect with that one special person in your life, the Inn at Corolla Lighthouse has it all.

This inn is located on the sound. We sat in the hottub nightly and watched the sun set directly in front of us.

The Innkeeper, Dan and his wife could not do enough for us.

If you are not romantic, don't want to be romantic, DON'T go. You'll find yourself falling in love, with love, for this beautiful paradise.

I give it FIVE Stars.

Can't wait to go again......
