Part of the "Outer Banks" experience has to include eating lots of fresh local seafood. In our recent trip, we had numerous seafood dinners - but actually none better than at North banks in the Timbuktu complex. From the outside, the restaurant looks pretty big - but it's actually quite tiny - and so the wait was pretty long. Luckily there are lots of fun and interesting shops nearby (check out Nag's Head Hammocks!) and they provide a fun lobster shaped buzzer for letting you know when your table is ready. Once seated, the service was good - our waiter was attentive and had a fun personality. We had some hushpuppies with spicy jalapeno butter and the calimari appetizer. The hush puppies were good - but the calimari was forgettable. My wife and I shared the Mixed Grill - selecting Tuna as the fish -and it was excellent. The Tuna was cooked perfectly and was the single best fish we had all week. My youngest son ordered the crab cakes and they were actually really good - you know, for North Carolina (my wife and I lived in Baltimore for 10 years, so...). My older son chose the Salmon and it was well-cooked and quite good (though he kept asking for bites of our Tuna). In all a really good meal and worth the wait.

We called ahead and were slightly disappointed that they don't accept reservations especially since we had a party of 10. They did offer tips to be seated quickly...basically get there at 4:30 since they open at 5PM. We were seated shortly after opening. The service was fast. The food was good, but it was also pricey. Of course that's pretty normal for OBX restaurants.

We were planning on going to Agave Roja, but it had plumbing problems and we were steered here. I didn't have high expectations of the place but I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant itself was a tight fit and we were all crowded onto a too small table in the bar area. Well you go with what you're given. Overall the food was good. I had the game fish taco which was salmon this time, and it was fine. All around the food was typical bar food and everyone enjoyed their meal. The negatives was the eating area was very loud and not real conducive to a relaxing meal. But if you're close and your first choice is too crowded or closed, i would certainly go there again

We went on the recommendation of friends who summer in Corolla and were not disappointed. We were told the wait would be about 70 minutes but it turned out to be about 35 minutes for our party of four. There was a daily special menu and a regular menu to chose from. We all ordered from the daily menu.We dined on crab soup, mahi-mahi, and sea food pasta. All were delicious. Two in our party took home half their order of pasta as they couldn't finish the large bowl. Our waitress was very efficient and attentive (how do you remember a party's order without writing it down---she had no problem!).

Went for Sunday lunch and the food was diverse and tasty. The blackened salmon tacos were tremendous and we are looking forward to going back.
